Covent Garden Flowers :: Thursday, February 11

Vida was a woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

"Yes, I know all the flights into the DC and Baltimore area were canceled because of the snow," she was saying into the phone, "but you don't realize what a crisis this is. I have people depending on me for their Valentine's Day flowers. I have a long list of roses and carnations that I need, and there are more on the way. I don't care what it takes, you have to get me those flowers!"

It was going to be a very long day.

[ooc: Welcome to my life. But I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I just hope it's not the oncoming train.]

Shelley, missing all things colorful and alive, was pleasantly surprised to find a flower shop in Fandom. She decided to pop in, if only to enjoy the smell.

"Flowers!" she cried with a bounce and a smile.

"Oh, no! What should I get?" Shelley was very easily persuaded to buy things.

Shelley had to pause and think. "Well, I guess they would be just for me. I mean, I don't really have anyone else to buy flowers for right now, do I? And my favorite color is pink. It used to be brown, but that's just not a very sexy color." Or so she had been told by the magazine editors.

"That's gorgeous!" Budget be damned, Shelley had to have these. "Did you make these yourself?"

"You are very talented," Shelley said. "Heff always had fresh cut flowers around the Mansion. Sometimes they make me sneeze, but it's worth a few nose boogers."

"Oh my god!" Shelley reached up and adjusted her bangs. "I'm not used to anyone who isn't a dude recognizing me." She beamed.

"You might be surprised how many females subscribed," she commented. There had been a targeted ad campaign once to get wives to sign up for their husbands. It had been a failure, but not totally.

"And, well, to be honest," her shoulders fell a little, "I'm not a bunny anymore."

"I know I just met you," Shelley said, smiling, "but I feel like I need to give you a hug."

And Shelley did, using her trick to remember people's names in the process. Meaning, in a very low, guttural voice, she repeated, "Auntie Vida."

She added, "I'm Shelley."

"Oh, thank you," Shelley gushed. "And you're so... sturdy." Auntie Vida had very solid shoulders.

Shelley pulled back. "I'm glad I came in - beautiful flowers and beautiful company."

This day just keeps getting better. "Thank you! Now, I've got the flowers, just need a man to send them to me, right?" She laughed.

Shelley felt certain that Vida would be true to her word. "You're too much," she laughed. "And I should get going. Thank you again, these flowers are just what I needed."
