Valentine's Day Dance | Town Hall | Saturday Evening [8pm on] (Post 2)

The streamers were a little less twisted into a canopy now. Some were hanging down onto the dance floor now. The hearts were also looking a little ragged. Some had ripped, more were hanging upside down. Possibly like the hearts of some of the dance attendees.

And the punch was spiked. Don't forget that.

"You look like you're having a good time," John said with a smile, having decided it was high time he met the younger version of Jaina's mom.

It would probably scar Jaina for life if she flirted with John, wouldn't it?

"I am," she said, smiling back. "It's my first dance here. And either I haven't seen you in any of my classes or the dorms, or you're not a student."

"You're a shrewd woman," John answered. "I'm actually a former student." And given he was 27 now, that was quite the compliment from her and he was taking it. "But I like meeting some of the new faces when I'm in town."

Age didn't mean much when you went to school with felt frogs and the like. "Nice to meet you then," Leia said. "I'm Leia."

"John," he returned, "Good to meet you. Fandom is big with the parties...and the decorations. I'm honestly surprised the hearts on the walls aren't literally on fire tonight."

"Don't say that," Leia laughed. "You'll give them ideas, and it's too cold to have to run outside to escape the flames."

"I'd suggest you drink more punch just in case it happens, but that would get me in trouble." John had just enough sense to know that a drunk Leia would earn him glares and a cold bed.

"Get you in trouble?" Leia said. "Don't tell me you're afraid of my father."

"Eh, only when he starts flexing his hand my way and talking about how he can make brains explode," John admitted. "But that was a long time ago. We're practically pals now." Lies.

"Any particular reason he'd want to do that?" Leia had to ask, grinning. "Or were you just a problem student?"

John grinned back, liking seeing Leia like this. "He always took issue with the way I dated his granddaughter." And made him a great-grandfather three times over and had sex in his flight shed and got arrested and called him for bail...the list was kind of long.

"His granddaughter?" Leia repeated, looking John over again. "Jaina? You dated Jaina?" She wasn't sure if she should approve of her future daughter's taste or try to be maternal.

"Well, it's not so much past tense," he shared. "But you should know that a future you liked me and seemed to want grandchildren last I saw her." Call it a preemptive strike against gaining the hate of Tiny Mom.

"I'm far too young to be a grandmother," Leia said automatically. "But how do I know you're not just saying that future me liked you so that I'll like you and approve of you seeing my daughter?"

That sentence made her head hurt just saying it.

"Hell, draw your own conclusions," John told her, still with a smile. "But I'm sure you know better than to tell Jaina if you decide you don't like me. Actually, tell her. I'll probably get visited more."

"I refuse to be my father," Leia said, making a face. "I'm not going to interfere in her personal life unless I thought you were dangerous."
