The dishes were eyeing Zack strangely today, yes, and whispering amongst themselves speculatively.
Zack, therefore, was going to take it upon himself to eye them just as strangely in turn.
This could go on for some time.

Sooner or later, one of the dishes was going to just crack and ask him why he wore a girdle all of the time.
