Cafe Fina, Tuesday [2/16]

Lion-o wasn't sure why the Café Fina staff was busy tossing beads, but he snagged a set of beads for himself anyway. They certainly looked festive.

Today's Specials
Oven-Baked Dutch Apple Pancakes
Roasted Pumpkin Oatmeal Pancakes
Almond Pancakes

Café Fina was open!

Already starting to feel anxious about next week, Angua decided to embark on a more active investigation of what food options there were in this town, especially since the likelihood of it leading to being poisoned was just about 500% less than it was in was in Ankh-Morpork. This place, looking over the specials, seemed promising...they were all conveniently vegetarian.

Still, she felt an aversion to entering, and, once she did, she understood why.

"...Hello," said Angua, who told herself that she should stop staring at the...cat...person...thing. She was a werewolf, after all, she had no room to talk.

But she was feeling a barely surpressable urge to go chase it up a tree.

Angua had a better question for him.

"Why is the staff throwing beads?" she asked, probably more wary about the fact that he was cat...person...thing than the fact that the staff threw things. Throwing things might help make her feel more at home.

"And completely void of any meat product," added Angua.

But she paused.

"Or meat-like product?"

There was a slightly hopeful, mostly cringing lean to her addendum.

Angua could almost relate to that sigh. Except that it was coming from a cat.

"No!" she said, perhaps a little too quickly. She dialed it back a little, forcing down a whimper at the thought of delicious bacon. Sausage, thankfully, she'd encountered far too often in Ankh-Morpork to want anything to do with it. "Er, no. That's fine. The..." She battled the sigh, "meatless pancakes is precisely what I...want."

"I...guess the roasted pumpkin oatmeal ones sound," acceptable, "pretty good."

"I'm new," said Angua. "Ish." She thought of extending a hand in greeting but, well, you know. Cat. Instead, she gave a nod. "Sergeant Angua. Nice to meet you....?"

It trailed off in that ivocative leading question mark mastered so well by coppers.

Lord of the Thundercats. She thought she sense a certain purple quality to his scent; she was easily distracted by the feline colour in and of itself. "So...how do you like school here?"

Making minor small talk with the citizenry always seemed a good idea for a copper.

"What would you be learning at home?" asked Angua.

"Er, and where is home?"

Angua's eyebrows may have lifted slightly. That was a bit more than the typical story she expected.

"Do I want to know about the Robear Berbils?" she tried.

"It might have come up," said Angua, shaking her head and trying very hard to just not picture it. And figuring that once you got into robotic bears, it might be time to move on. "So, how's that seating in the back of the place like you mentioned? Quiet?"

"What does--"

But then Angua decided to actually look toward the other parts of the restaurant and it didn't take long to catch on. She blamed the fact that restaurants in general were distracting, and, you know. Cat. Big, bipedal, humanoid cat.

"Oh."

"Definitely the back, please."

"Liiiiiiooooon-ooooooooo!"

That was the only warning Lion-o would get before Momoko rushed through the door, spotted him, and attempted a tackle-hug.

"I did! I did! Thank you, thank you! I totally wasn't expecting any and they're gorgeous! Thank you!" She gave him an extra tight squeeze. "Did you get the chocolates I made? They're totally not the same as flowers, but I hope you liked them?"

Momoko laughed. "I should have given him his own! I'm sorry!" She grinned at him. "So, how was your Valentine's Day? Did you get to go to the dance?"
heromaniac: (V for victory)

She gave him a thumbs up. "That's awesome! I wish I'd been there! Did you get dragged out onto the dance floor? You totally should have. Ah! I missed you in your suit! You look so nice in a suit!"

Momoko blinked. "Clinging... did someone spike the punch again?"
heromaniac: (here i come)

"Oh! You meant you just stayed near the punch! You weren't actually, like, clinging to it." She nodded, finally understanding. "Well, I will totally go to the next dance and drag you onto the dance floor again. Promise!"

She bounced into a chair. "So what else is new?"
heromaniac: (smile hello)

"Oh? Who? Do I know her?" Momoko tried to think of any of the female teachers she'd had and could only think of Ms Mode. Who she was sure would not have come back to run a cafe. "Is she nice?"
