Miss Elizabeth Bennet had passed over the fair section of History today in favor of Historical Fiction.

If truth be told, perhaps those were historical romances. But the narrator would not presume to reveal such a secret of Miss Bennet's.

Summer, being the avid reader that she is, came to find she'd finished all the books currently in her possession. And since her brother had yet to send her new titles, she was a bit upset at the discovery.

All thoughts of a visit to the Perk pushed aside, Summer found herself wandering into Book Haven. She wasn't exactly sure what genre she was in the mood for but that wasn't going to keep her from browsing to her heart's content.

"Welcome," Miss Bennet said warmly, bowing her head to the other woman. "Should you require any assistance, I would be happy to oblige. If you prefer to browse in silence, I promise I won't find offense in that."

"Thank you," Summer replied, a warm smile offered in greeting. "I'm not sure what type of book I'm in the mood for. Do you have any recommendations? I'll read just about anything."

Her brother could attest to that.

"I might," Miss Bennet said, leading Summer back towards the aisles. "I confess, I find myself drawn to works from my own era, which is nearly two centuries past, so my recommendations might be biased towards those works. Never fear, for I have read works more recent and can speak to those, as well. How do you feel about comedies of errors? Or proper works in which young ladies in society seek to be married?"

"I'm as much a fan of classic literature as I am of recent works," Summer explained as she followed Miss Bennett. Having a penchant for adventure and discovering things of the past meant Summer enjoyed works from earlier years. "I enjoy both, though I think I might lean more towards stories focusing on women in society."

She was big fan of Little Women, after all.

"Have you read Amelia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emma)?" Miss Bennet asked, selecting a book from the shelves. "A young woman of culture amuses herself by making matches of her friends, but all does not go according to plan."

"I don't think I have," Summer shook her head, wondering how she could have missed out on that title. "It sounds like quite an amusing and enjoyable read."

"In a similar vein," Miss Bennet said, browsing the shelves for more titles, "would be Miss Burney's quite playful Elyse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evelina), and Miss Edgeworth's controversial but impassioned Melina (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belinda_%28Edgeworth_novel%29). Lesser known than Amelia, but no less delightful for their lack of fame."

Summer took a moment to mull over Miss Bennet's suggestions. "Seeing as I tend to get through a book fairly quickly, I'm thinking of choosing all three." She could never pass up a good read and it seemed she would end up enjoying all three titles.

"I'm fairly easy to please when it comes to books," she added, a small smile accompanying her remark.

"As am I," Miss Bennet admitted. "I taught literature last year, and I confess, I found myself asking the students for their recommendations. Having two centuries to catch up on is a rather delightful dilemma."

She handed the titles to the other woman. "I could ring these up for you, if you're finished. Or you could select more, if you like. I can never leave a bookshop with just one tome, either."

"You're a teacher here as well? Something else we have in common then," Summer noted. "I hope the students gave some good suggestions. There's certainly a lot to choose from."

Especially when it came to two centuries worth of books. "I think these will do for now. Thank you for all your help. I could probably spend hours in here," Summer smiled, chuckling lightly.
