Well, someone was wandering in, but she didn't need help, strictly speaking. Three more days until the Bahamas, plenty of women's Olympic events on the TV schedule, and finally getting adjusted to a decent sleep schedule meant Kennedy was back to her usual energetic and cheerful self today.

But she'd still brought coffee and chocolate croissants.

"So I'm thinking of taking up snowboarding," she announced as she came in. "I could totally rock the halfpipe. What d'you think?"

Oh, she wished. As if she had the time to spare.

"I think you would be really hot doing that," Tara informed her, grinning. "It's fun to watch. That guy who looks like Carrot Top always seems so happy, y'know? And you wouldn't have to wear anything with sequins."

She leaned forward. "And hi."

"Big no on the sequins. But I could put cool designs on my helmet, and listen to music while I'm riding, and they'd show you on camera in the crowd reaction shots..." It was a really, really enticing idea for all that it was probably never going to happen. Kennedy set the coffee down and leaned across the counter. "And I'd totally kiss you on TV in front of everybody when I was done."

And probably bitch out someone at the network if they cut to commercial instead, which was neither here nor there since she was more intent on demonstrating.

Tara leaned into the kiss easily. "And then at the medals ceremony your eyes would get all misty when they started playing the national anthem," she contributed, easily going with the fantasy. "And people would write blogs about how cute you were and how cool it was that you were out."

So, y'know, Kennedy should get right on that in her copious free time.

On it. So on it. Because there was absolutely nothing implausible about her picking up snowboarding at this age and being that kid NBC did special features on and had "COMING UP IN 11 MINUTES:" onscreen graphics for by the time the next Winter Games rolled around, of course. (Hey, this was her fantasy. She wasn't going to scale it down at all. Or factor in the 'four years from now' detail.)

"And be sad that I have a girlfriend," she added, "since I'd mention you in all the interviews, because you know people would be on Google trying to find out anyway. Hi. Started packing for the trip yet?"

She had, but considering how much luggage she brought anywhere...

Johnny Weir didn't start skating until he was twelve, right? Kennedy getting good enough at snowboarding to win a gold medal by age twenty was totally possible.

... anyhow.

"Would I have to do intervuiews?" Tara wondered. "'Cause if all I had to say was how awesome you were, I totally could. And not really, on the packing? My summer stuff is way up in my closet and I'm lazy." She pouted. "Project for tonight, I guess."

Well, Kennedy thought she could do it; she wasn't in the habit of thinking she couldn't, most of the time. But again, there was that copious free time problem.

"I wouldn't make you do interviews if you didn't want to," she promised. "But I'd want you around for the photo shoots at least... and if you feel like being lazy, I'd help you with the packing."

"You just wanna see if I'll pack a bikini," Tara accused lightly. "But I should be around tonight. What about you, you got big plans? Is hockey still on?"

"Would I do that?" Kennedy protested, laughing and holding her hands up.

Yes, she would. Duh.

"Hockey's early this evening, then we should have time before the figure skating and snowboarding," she added after consulting her phone. Thank you, official Olympics app. "Or, y'know, after. Not like we have any more classes for two weeks, right?"

"I know, and modeling class was just a movie today," Tara reported. "It's like a little tiny summer vacation! I'm so into that."

"Warmup for the real thing," Kennedy agreed. "Except with less campfires and more mai tais on the beach, and God, please tell me you're going to pack a bikini, 'cause..."

Hey. It was a nice mental image, as the look on her face indicated.

"I don't own one," Tara confessed. "I, uh, might have a tankini? Somewhere?"

Like, at the bottom of a drawer, with the price tag still attached. It had been on sale and she'd been feeling daring.

She shrugged. "I can live without campfires for another couple months."

"Damn," Kennedy replied, and she was pouting, but mostly playfully. "Would've liked to see that. But I'll live. Even without campfires. The Bahamas are so not the place for s'mores anyway."

Tara smiled at her crookedly. "Y'know, I think there might be places that sell bikinis there, even..."

Kennedy gave her something very closely related to a hopeful puppydog look in reply. "Any chance I could talk you into one? I was gonna bring mine."

"Asking sometimes works?" Tara said, going pink. "I can wear a sarong, too, right?"

"Yes," Kennedy decided, nodding. She could concede that much. "Plus? I'm kind of looking forward to private time with you."

That was probably not helping the blushing much, Kennedy.

Noooo, not at all, and now there was giggling to go with the blushing. "I can't believe we'll be sharing a room."

She was thrilled by the concept. Nervous, and a little freaked out -- but thrilled.

"We did it before, in DC," Kennedy pointed out, less freaked out but just as thrilled. Because going to the Bahamas with her girlfriend. What wasn't awesome about that? "It's going to be great."

"Yeah, but that was one night," Tara shrugged. "And it'll absolutely be great."

... seriously, there was really no bad there.

"It's a good time for a break."

No bad at all, and more good than they could probably name off the tops of their heads.

"A whole week of sharing a room with you?" Kennedy looked skyward and pretended to heave a sigh. "Not to mention sun, sand, and a million things to check out. Wow. Whatever am I gonna do?"

She sent a quick wink Tara's way. "Enjoy the hell out of it, clearly."

Diana realized that she hadn't actually been out much in recent times and showed up in the Magic Box, cat in arms. "Bahamas?"

"Sunday," Tara grinned. "Hi, Samuel. Are you going too?"

"Packed already?" Diana asked cheerfully, setting the cat down on the counter.

"Of course, someone has to keep an eye on her." Samuel's words were undermined by the fact that in his attempt to sniff at something on counter ended with him on the floor.

"Yeah, that." Diana said with an eye roll.

"Doing it tonight if I don't end up watching the Olympics," Tara said, shaking her head. "And wow, Sam, I can tell you're an awesome guardian."

Sarcastic? Her?

Diana didn't quite manage to muffle her laughter. "My sister sent me about a dozen flags for the Olympics. Of course, she somehow ended up actually watching the hockey live."

Samuel was trying - and failing - to climb back to the counter. "I'm learning!"

"She went to Vancouver?" Tara asked, reaching down to try to help Samuel.

Diana nodded. "Yeah. She was going to Seattle originally but then there was another Snow White situation - well, frog really, but it was the same thing - and she ended up in Vancouver."

Samuel was very thankful for the help and meowled his thanks.

Tara ... looked incredibly confused, actually. "Did we talk about that snow white thing before and I forgot? B-but yay that things went well."

"Probably? It was sort of like that but with a bonus trip to the Olympics." Diana sort of explained. "Lucky. How come I have to be in a different country when the Olympics are in my home country of pride?" Diana whined.
