The Park - Afternoon
Twas cloudy and much, much chillier than the Bahamas were, but that was all the more reason for Beka to be outside. The looby pigeons were acting like mumpers who'd spotted a noble that could not keep his purse closed. They weren't wrong as the old bread bag was filled to the top and Beka was breaking the slices into tiny pieces. She had to shoo Shimmer off when he'd tried to steal a too large piece.
"Don't be such a glutton," she scolded him. "You try to eat that all at once and it'll get stuck in your throat and you'll deserve getting choked."
You know trying to reason with pigeons will get you nowhere, Pounce remarked with some amusement.
Beka did, but it'd not stop her from trying either way.

She knew the Cat too well to expect not to be noticed, but she wandered up anyway, not saying anything until she'd taken a seat on the bench.

Beka wrinkled her nose at her ill mannered cat. "Don't mind him."

"Some things do not change then," Beka concluded, throwing her cat a look.

"I think I like that," Beka said, even as sommat twisted in her stomach at thought of that far off world. One that held Pounce and George, but wasn't hers.

"Still weird, hmm?" she asked, glancing over at Beka. "The time thing?"

"Are you leaving again?" she asked, motioning towards Aly's bag.

She eyed Pounce for a moment, aware that he - or rather Faithful - was one she'd always miss.

Pounce was purring softly now, his eyes opening briefly as Aly was looking at him. Don't you get all melancholic on me, he told Aly alone.
no subject
Not me, Cat she replied, thinking hard at him as her hand scratched lightly under his chin. Don't even be accusing me of it.

You're not fooling me, Cunning One, Pounce said and there was a definite mocking in there.
no subject
I fool Gods all the time. Why should you be any different? was thought back, the note of mocking just as evident.

"It usually's not my fault," Beka defended.

She raised an eyebrow at Pounce, letting that say all she needed.

Beka shook her head. "Mayhap they exaggerated their stories about me," she reasoned.

"Nah, that'd mess with the timeline. It's more fun to watch 'em flail about," she said. "And I don't think you should hold back from having your friends here visit the Lower City if it works. Nothing like a bit of fun to set things on edge."
Aly's definition of fun was often not a normal person's definition.

She at least thought she'd made that much clear.
