Support Services: The Park, Friday after classes

Now this was weather the girls could get used to. It was sunny and warm but not too hot, and that meant everything was perfect for today's meeting.

"We have a little something special planned for today," Morgana said, once it looked like everyone had arrived. "Sometimes, when it comes to being supportive, the people we have to help the most are ourselves. Dinah is here today to show us one example of how we can do that."

Dinah looked a little nervous as she got up to begin her talk. "Hi, everyone. Ahem. Okay, I learned this stuff in New Gotham, for dealing with, uh. Criminals. But a lot of it should still translate to other situations. Doesn't matter who's tied you up, or if you have powers. Given enough time, there's always a way out."

Francine, as it happened, was just as interested as anyone in this concept, even if she was standing up there looking like she knew what she was doing. "Yay for learning how to do it ourselves. The only time I ever got tied up, Merlin untied me." By magicking off the ropes that somebody else had put there, of course. What were you thinking?

Hopefully not what Dinah was thinking, until she remembered that week where there'd been punching of Francine. "So Francine's going to tie me to the chair, and then I'm going to do a Houdini and get out of it in less than a minute. Less than thirty seconds, and I want an extra cookie." Dinah grinned and sat down, and put her arms behind her back. "Okay, watch what I'm doing as Francine ties me up." The observant would notice that Dinah was both leaning forward slightly, rounding her shoulders, and tensing every muscle in her body. "Around and around, Francine. Legs too!"

If it looked like Francine was taking her time with that and studying everything extremely carefully, it was only because she was dedicated to education. Education. "Is that too tight?"

Dinah wriggled a little, and yeah, tiiiny bit of flashback to Shiva two weeks ago, but breathe in, breathe out, and... yeah. "It's fine." She grinned down at the chair and said, "Start timing."

She rocked the chair sideways, hard, once, twice, three times, and tipped over. "Oofff."

"Fifteen, twenty oh God, are you okay?" Francine, you're not supposed to rush over to try to help her. You're an evil mastermind.

"Yup!" Bruises, pfft. So part of the job. Dinah toed off her shoes, and then waved a foot at everyone. "Look, slack!" And started working her feet up the legs of the chair. "And in a second, my legs are gonna be free." Meanwhile, she'd un-clenched her fists and un-tensed her arms, and worked one pinky, then her ring finger, loose from the knots behind her back. With a lot more slack to work with, she had one loop over her fists in thirty seconds. "No cookie, but..."

"Half a cookie?" Francine suggested. And if she was watching the getting out with almost as much interest as she'd devoted to the tying up, that really was about education. Because come on, what were the chances that wouldn't happen to her again?

"I think... I'll get it.... now!" Ta~da! Dinah had gotten the ropes on her legs and middle loose enough that she'd managed to work the ropes off her wrists too, separate her arms, then duck her head under another loop and crawl out of the whole mess. "Yes!" She held her arms up in victory, then climbed to her feet, shedding rope lengths as she staggered upright. "Basically, you tense up everything you can tense, cross your wrists, hold them a tiny bit apart, and work the rope back and forth along the length. There'll be give to it somewhere. You don't need to untie the knots, just get free. You can be tied up safely or securely-- not both." She gave everyone a more sober look. "You just need time to undo it." Then she beamed at Francine. "Cookie time?"

"For you," Francine said. "Everybody else gets to practice tying each other up and getting out of it."

"And if you guys want to ask me questions about handcuffs or thumbcuffs, I'll be over here," Dinah said. "Having my reward."

OMG it is so pretty outside. Maybe it really is springtime!

Morgana had to admit, she was pretty intrigued by this whole thing. As the king's ward, she often thought about the possibility of being kidnapped and ransomed, and this could make that a much smaller concern.

And it could help in dirtier situations, but she wasn't going to think about those here in public.

Oh whatever, Morgana. She was so thinking about those things in public.

Or maybe that was Francine.

Or maybe Francine was just thinking about the pink-frosted sugar cookie she was currently nibbling on.

Fact: Cops have to use velcro handcuffs on me because I can escape from metal ones. Tiny wrists.

Arthur wasn't allergic to the sunlight. If anything, it suited him.

Shiny golden hair and all, he was present.

Arthur's eyebrows were climbing into his hairline until Francine finished tying Dinah up.

Er. Right. They were lucky that no amount of straps and buckles would ever jar Dinah out of the little-sister zone, and Arthur was free to raise those eyebrows at Francine's pausing instead.

The rest of the demonstration was fairly par for the course, as far as he was concerned. ...No, he wasn't going to say anything.

Angela was definitely not allergic, and definitely was about to enjoy it. Getting towards her favourite time of the year with all the warmth. The more of that, the happier she was.

Why not? Dirty situations were always fun to think about.

"Interesting demonstration," he chuckled as he came up beside Morgana, reaching out to touch her arm.

"More interesting than I expected," Morgana admitted, smiling brightly at Jacob. "But useful, I think."

"As long as they use ropes," he nodded, but then he was probably capable of just breaking most restraints so...

"What exactly did you find the most interesting?" he wondered, his hand drifting down to hers as he stepped a little closer. He definitely had a plan there.

"Well, Dinah could have been completely helpless, but she wasn't. That's a very good thing, isn't it?" she said, taking his hand and giving it a gentle squeeze.

He nodded in agreement. "Not that I'm going to let anyone tie you up," he assured her. She could take that as she wanted.

"You'll protect me from anyone who wishes to do me harm?" Morgana asked. Because of course she wouldn't be tied up for anything else.

"It's what I do," he agreed, squeezing her hand. "I only ask for a cookie in return. And maybe a kiss." Definitely a kiss.

"Maybe a kiss?" she said with a smirk. "That doesn't sound as though you want it very much."

"Well, I wouldn't want you to think I'm trying to take advantage of my champion situation," he smiled at her.

Priestly was ~~totally actually there for once, omg?~~ there, munching on veggies and definitely enjoying the sun and fair weather.

Priestly made a mental note to add this to the list of reasons why his best friend was insane.

Warren found himself watching the demonstration with no small amount of interest, yes.

This would probably come in handy any time he felt it absolutely necessary to break free of some restraint or other with the power of wings and adrenaline...

The scary thing is that I can picture you just drunk enough to helpfully inform them of that fact.
