Atlas Gym

Ashley was growing more and more frustrated about being stuck in Fandom. While she appreciated having a place to be that was safe and subsequently kept her mother safe, she was bored without having an outlet for her aggression.

Which would be why she was pounding the hell out of a punching bag at work today. She'd stop if anyone needed her help.

Even though she's not in the greatest of moods today.

Moody or not, Dimitri had a good deal of free time this week and so he stopped in to see how Ashley was doing. He walked over, watching her attack the bag and inspecting her form out of habit.

Ashley hadn't talked to Dimitri since that whole nude thing. And even though she knew he hadn't been in his right mind, she felt a little awkward.

But she stopped punching and nodded. "Hey, boss. What's up?"

"I find myself with a good deal of free time this week, so I came by to see how things were going," Dimitri replied, not feeling particularly awkward, though he understood the potential for it given that weekend. "How are things going?"

"Can't really complain," Ash said. "Things have been fine here. I'm a little on the bored side but I'm coping with it."

"Bored in Fandom," Dimitri repeated. "Careful you don't turn into an animal in your quest for distraction."

"I'm not sure that turning into an animal would alleviate my boredom," she said. "Mostly I'm restless. I'm used to going out and fighting on a regular basis."

Dimitri could understand that. "I've found sparring helps. Keeping up with the skills, etc." He tried to remember if he'd seen her at Fight Club yet.

"Sparring would be good if I could find a partner, I guess," Ash said. "I've been fighting for a long time though."

No, he wouldn't have seen her at Fight Club since she had somehow managed to miss learning about it.

"You know, there's a weekly Fight Club here at the gym on Sundays," Dimitri suggested. "They get a fairly large crowd of potential partners with a variety of skills."

"Seriously? Guess that explains why the place is sometimes messy on Mondays," Ash said. "I'll definitely have to check it out."

"You should. Rose, Beka, Fred, and I all participate," he added. "At the very least, it'll give you a group of people who understand missing out on sparring." Not that Dimitri didn't get a spar on with Rose almost daily, but could he really count the verbal kind?

"Thanks for the tip," she said. "How've you been? I, uh, kind of figured out you weren't yourself last time we talked."

She would bring it up. "What clued you in first, the lack of height or clothes?" Dimitri thought making light of it would be better than anything serious could be.

In her defense, he had been sitting so she hadn't noticed the lack of height right away. "Mostly the way you were talking," Ashley admitted.

"There was that, too," he remembered. "Certainly not my favorite weekend in Fandom. I apologize if things were strange."

Ashley shrugged. "Not your fault. I just wish I could have gotten you inside and clothed sooner."

Hope only had a few months left in Fandom, at best, depending on Savannah's choices... which meant that Hope was now feeling the need to actually get out and start exploring the island. What the hell, she couldn't have had that urge months ago?

First up? Atlas. Largely because she'd ~~handwavily~~ found out that her friend worked there, thank you radio!

"Did I come at a bad time?" she called when she saw Ashley's assault on the bag.

Ash turned and smiled. "Nah, it's cool. Just trying to get in a workout."

And work out some frustrations. "What's up, Hope? I haven't seen you in a while."

"Nothing much," Hope said with a shrug. "Just figured that if I live here, I should actually know what's here." She smiled sheepishly. "Plus I haven't seen you in a while, and that makes me feel like a bad friend. So! Here I am."

"I've been sort of antisocial," Ash admitted. "So if you're a bad friend, so am I."

Of course, she wasn't really used to having friends who didn't live at the Sanctuary.

"We can be antisocial together!" Hope paused. "Which kind of negates the whole anti part of it, but... we can be antisocial against everybody else?"

Hey, it was logical to her!

Ashley laughed. "Something like that, sure."

"Score." Hope grinned. "So, how've you been?"

"Eh, kind of bored," Ash admitted. "Not used to having this much down time."

"Your old job kept you busy, huh?" Hope asked.

Ash nodded. "Pretty busy yeah. There was always something going on."

Often something life threatening. Hope would love the chaos that surrounded a Sanctuary.

"What kind of job was it?" Hope asked. "Because I'm so not seeing you with a desk job."

Hahaha, talk about hitting the nail on the head and not even knowing it.

"Uh, this might sound a little crazy," Ash warned her. "But I was kind of a professional monster hunter."

Hope couldn't help tensing slightly, thinking of Savannah and what Project Genesis had done to her and Eve. "What kind of monsters?" she asked.

"In my world, there's a race called Abnormals," she explained. "Some of them are harmless and we help them. But others try to hurt people and we stop them."

I'm sure Jessi's around somewhere too.

I've got to remember to start posting these on Sunday evenings because I always forget on Monday mornings.
