The Park, Saturday Afternoon
If you thought that Arthur would be staying indoors and sticking to speeches now that precautions could be taken, you were utterly mistaken. He'd been outside for the better part of the day - not alone, either, as he was taking his own advice - keeping the creatures occupied. Or dead.
Mainly dead.
Unfortunately, he had yet to succeed in capturing one either.
He'd just gone out on his second patrol of the day when he stumbled across the park - and what seemed to be a group of five baby godzillas, conferring. "...Be very, very quiet," he told his companion.

Such an odd little device.

Then pulled out his crossbow. Silently. "You go at them from the flank."
... Merlin couldn't botch that, right?
"I'll try to take one out from here."

They looked a bit like small dragons, too!
This would be fun.

Arthur squinted, aiming his crossbow carefully. At the head... just turn a bit and--
He got eye. He fired. Excellent shot.

so people know he's doing magicdramatically as the fog started to circle another of the creatures.no subject
Arthur shoved his crossbow back into its bindings and yanked out his sword, heading down, down.
The creature Merlin was concentrating at blinked, twisting around. What?

Towards Arthur.
Who was still coming at him, sword and all. "Faster, Merlin!"
That poor front godzilla was doing without an arm, now.

The fourth beast was not about to take this windy violence against his brother lying down. With an almighty roar, he charged at Merlin.

Merlin needed to stop being all impressed with himself and remember that there were creatures out to eat him and Arthur here.
Which would happen about... no.
"Gahh!" He flailed out at the thing, knocking it back against a tree.

One lizard had quickly bit the dust. Arthur had to duck the claws of the second. No problem. Right.

As soon as she found a creature to deal with, anyhow . . .

He was there, he was scary, and he was heading straight for Gabrielle.

"Here, little lizard creature, here," she just happened to be calling as it approached, not realizing yet that the gas mask muffled her voice. "I'm not going to hurt you . . . I just want to talk for a minute, okay?"
no subject
He tilted his head in confusion and stared at her.

So he tried to eat the chatty, chatty food. My, what sharp teeth he had!
no subject
Yes, Gabrielle, compliment the lizard in muffled gas-mask voice. That'll work.

Watch out for the tail, Gabrielle.
no subject
Yes, that personal space was kind of overlapping yours right now, Gabrielle.
She sighed and scowled, for all that you could see it through the mask, and used her staff to lever herself back to her feet. "This isn't working, is it?"
Oh, look, convenient two-handed grip now. JUST IN CASE.
Gee, Gab, you think?
no subject
Really, there was going to be some serious emo poetry about this later.
For now, he was going to try to bite that stick of hers in half.

Strangely, Zayne wandered around the park, missing action of any kind. It was almost like the Force was paying him back for that whole thing with Jaina the other day.
