Our Lady of Fandom, Monday

In Castiel's experience, humans were best left to fend for themselves. So despite his apparent son being half-angel, Castiel figured it was probably better for everyone concerned if he let Cas do his own thing.

The boy would tell him if he needed something, right?

Oh yeah, Castiel was the best parent, ever.

[ooc: Expecting folks in particular, but the church is always open!]

Dean had ended up completely caught up in working with Jacob and Sammy yesterday so hadn't made it to the church to check in on Castiel and child until this morning.

"Cas?" he called out as he came inside.

The child in question (who thankfully was well familiar with Castiel's parenting style or lack thereof and had been taught how to survive it) had been poking around in the church's living quarters, but had come running when he'd heard his Dad's voice.

"Dad!" he called out when he spotted Dean and continued running right into his arms.

Dean caught the boy as he threw himself at Dean. "Hey, kiddo," he said, swinging him up. He looked up at Castiel. "Both of you, I guess."

[identity profile] saltandammo.livejournal.com 2010-04-12 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"So you think God should've named you 'The Angel'?" Dean asked pointedly.

[identity profile] weechesters.livejournal.com 2010-04-12 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"I like my name," Cas piped up. "It's like me -- part angel, part hunter." He held up his hands and threaded his fingers together. "The pieces fit."

[identity profile] saltandammo.livejournal.com 2010-04-12 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"See?" Dean said triumphantly. "He likes it. So there." He resisted the urge to stick his tongue out at the angel on the basis that he should at least try to be more mature than the kid he was holding.

Noting the cat wapping him, Dean grinned. She was really living up to Angelbane. "I'm awesome at names."

[identity profile] saltandammo.livejournal.com 2010-04-12 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Dean quickly put Cas down and reached out to take the cat from Castiel. "Dude, that's a cat, not a sack of potatoes!"

[identity profile] saltandammo.livejournal.com 2010-04-12 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Dean looked at the cat he held a lot more expertly than Castiel had. "So even your cat is getting more than you are, huh?"

[identity profile] weechesters.livejournal.com 2010-04-12 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sex," Cas piped up helpfully.

[identity profile] saltandammo.livejournal.com 2010-04-12 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Dean looked down at the younger Cas. "Now you shouldn't actually understand this conversation. You should think we're talking about kittens or something." To the full grown Cas, he said, "Why, are you planning on suing for kitten support?"

Dean stared at him. "Cats don't actually have money to sue for, y'know. What, you want to sue a cat for all the tuna it owns or something?"

[identity profile] saltandammo.livejournal.com 2010-04-12 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm not sure cat families work that way, but..." Dean shrugged. He was willing to play along. "Do you know what the father looks like?"

[identity profile] saltandammo.livejournal.com 2010-04-12 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Dean frowned. It couldn't be... "He's not supposed to be an outdoor cat," he muttered to himself.

"Sounds a little like Hunter, but..."

Raine was apparently constitutionally incapable of doing what she was told for long stretches of time. Which... okay, wasn't that different from either of her parents, really.

It did explain why she was wandering Fandom aimlessly.

And why she was wandering into the church. Look, churches were kinda foreign to her and her mun thinks she's exceedingly funny so she was curious, okay?

[identity profile] weeheroes.livejournal.com 2010-04-13 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Raine grinned. "Nope, not my father, don't worry," she assured him.

[identity profile] weeheroes.livejournal.com 2010-04-13 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm completely impossible progeny, too, just not yours." She grinned again.

[identity profile] weeheroes.livejournal.com 2010-04-13 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
"That's 'cause I'm not yours so you don't gotta deal with me."

Hey, it sounded logical to her.

[identity profile] weeheroes.livejournal.com 2010-04-13 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Just wandering around," Raine said, shoving her hands into her jeans pockets. "Got bored."

Well, at least he was getting an answer. That was... well, something, right?

[identity profile] weeheroes.livejournal.com 2010-04-13 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
"Happens to kids a lot more than adults." Raine shrugged. "My moms were busy with their other kids, so I figured I'd go entertain myself."

She had to get points for the logic of it, if not the execution.

[identity profile] weeheroes.livejournal.com 2010-04-13 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
"How many kids did you end up with?" Raine asked. Because yes, perfectly acceptable question to ask a total stranger.

Only in Fandom.
