The Park [afternoon]

After tearing through his house like a kid on a sugar high (which, well, he had been), Biff finally discovered Outside.

"Let's play Stone the Adulteress!" he cried to whoever was around before gathering up some rocks.

Children's games two thousand years ago were odd.

[OOC: So very open.]

"How do you play that?" asked Angua, back at the park, but remaining human because she'd already been playing as a pup all morning, and, besides, nibbling at the bacon sammich between her hands was easier when she had opposable thumbs. She took a big bite and chewed it slowly as she stared expectantly at the human boy. She hoped it was an easy game; she was feeling like it was almost time for a nap.

"Why's it got to be rocks thrown at me?" asked Angua, frowning in deep disapproval of this idea, but, hey, at least it didn't involve flaming torches and pitchforks like the Angry Mob Storming the Monster's Castle game. "Why can't we throw them at you instead?"

"But they can be adulterers," Angua pointed out. She didn't know what the word meant, of course, but she did know about masculine and feminine word ending thingies. "So we could play..." She bit into the sandwich again, chewed it thoughtfully, "Chase Down the Adulterer and Tear Off His Limbs?"

Werewolf games were pretty odd, too.

There were days that Vimes was reminded very strongly of Ankh-Morpork. Generally when things like that were said.

He sighed and shook his head.

"None of that."

"There will be no stoning of people. Adulterous or otherwise."

"I'm sure," Vimes replied with the air of someone who had no idea what you were talking about and didn't rightly care. "Now go play something sensible. Like--footie."

Where was Carrot when you needed him?

Angela had finally left her room, holding a cat dressed as a baby doll by the neck as it tried to get away. "How d' you play that?" she wondered.

Angela frowned. She looked very stern when she did that, it was a natural talent. "That's not very nice. You're gonna get in trouble."

"Then why don't I know about it?" she asked.

It didn't matter if her father wasn't here, Ziva was still going to go outside and exercise like she was supposed to. When she got to the park, she couldn't help but overhear Biff, and she stared at him for a moment. "That is not very nice," she said. "You are not supposed to stone people anymore." That didn't mean people didn't of course, but that's because they were mean.

[identity profile] eager-platypus.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Because it is not fair," Ziva said. "How would you like to have rocks thrown at you by people bigger and stronger than you?"

[identity profile] eager-platypus.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
"I am very nimble," Ziva said. "That does not mean I want to have things thrown at me. Especially by a boy."

"That's not a real game, silly," Hope said with all the loftiness of an eight-year-old girl raised in high society.

Which, face it, was a lot of loftiness.

[identity profile] feedsonchaos.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Your games are mean," Hope decided. "... I don't have to be the Canaanite, do I?"

[identity profile] feedsonchaos.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
"That's no fun! Can't we make someone else be the Canaanite?"

Hey, she might've been on to something there...
