Sunday Late Evening - Galactica Point

It had cooled off a little - a very little - from the day, and with the graduation festivities out of the way and tours of the island done, Lissa had admitted to wanting to hang out on the beach a little on her last day.

Rose wasn't sure about the whole beach at night thing, but it wasn't like the darkness was a problem, and it'd be fun to just hang out and talk with her friend and anyone else who wandered by. Probably not skinny dip though. The whole guardian thing plus the water being freezing made that a little difficult.

So after the daily visit to the feeder off-island and taking care of a few other things, Rose and Lissa (and the accompanying men in black) made their waydown to the beach. Rose built a bonfire, kinda surprised that those tips she'd picked up at the winter survival workshop a few months back actually worked so well, and both girls found spots on a blanket to listen to the waves. And talk. And roast marshmallows and eat the lunch they'd picked up. And talk. There was no danger of a shortage of talking.

[Yep, totally open. Just like the sky. And the water. And - no, that's just mean.]

Lissa was flushed still from feeding earlier, and she shook her hair back over her shoulders, enjoying the cool breeze off the water. "I'm surprised you're not in a bathing suit, Rose," she teased easily. "Random swimming seems like your kind of thing."

It wasn't a bad point, and Lissa looked at her questioningly.

She smiled, shifting a little to be more comfortable on the sand. "I'd like that," she said. "And it's going to be your freshman year too. We both get to celebrate."

Watching her set up the fire, Dimitri smiled to himself, pausing in his regular rounds of the beach area to move closer to the flames. "I wonder where you could have learned to build such an excellent fire." It wasn't so much a question as a little, snarky comment disguised as a question.

"Strange. Who would've thought fire-building would be a useful skill," Dimitri remarked, schooling his face back to his typical guardian mask despite his amusement.

Lissa looked from Dimitri to Rose, a little confused but amused all the same. "This is one of those mentor-student things, isn't it."

Elena was wandering the beach -- look, she happened to be very fond of beaches today -- and spotted a huddle of people near a bonfire. Getting closer, she realized that several of them were wearing dark suits, and that one was almost certainly Rose.

She approached cautiously, hoping she wasn't interrupting, If anyone glared her off, she'd be polite and go.

"Evening," Elena called out, a bright smile lighting up her face. "It's okay, there's been a lot going on. Do I get to meet your friends?"

And co-workers, and protect-ee, but 'friends' sounded more sociable.

"It has," Elena admitted in a low voice. "Getting better all the time. How is everyone adjusting? You and Lissa probably had a lot to catch up on."

Which was in no way Elena being curious about if Lissa knew about Rose and Dimitri. At all.

Yuri was enjoying his last day (for him it was day) in Fandom with time on a real beach. It was warm and there was sand and the pretty people were still potentially wandering by.

As sweet as the gig seemed, Yuri still couldn't help thinking how Belikov was completely wasted out here, training one novice. It gave him ideas.

[identity profile] guardian-god.livejournal.com 2010-05-03 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
After days, Yuri was quiet in Dimitri's ear. It was unnerving when Dimitri had just gotten used to the near constant chatter. He tapped the radio, "Fialkovskii, you awake out there?"

[identity profile] guardian-spare.livejournal.com 2010-05-03 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, a guy could work and not talk, it wasn't so different, though it was harder to make eye contact the way Dimitri preferred from too far out so Yuri made his rounds a little closer as he replied on radio.

"You know it, Belikov. Just taking in what little view we've got down here."

[identity profile] guardian-god.livejournal.com 2010-05-03 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Dimitri waited, noticing Fialkovskii was coming in closer to answer him without the help of the radio. "The lingering heat's bearable with the ocean breeze. I didn't expect you to be so taken with any of it."

He found Fandom so odd, himself. Not in a manner that made him wish to leave, but just not what he would expect anyone from their world to really enjoy for a weekend trip.

"It's not a bad place," Yuri agreed, joining him while obviously keeping his eyes trained afar. "But I have a hard time understanding why you're still here, Belikov."

Karla, much like Elena, had felt the need for a long, quiet walk on the beach. She needed some time to sort herself out before heading to Caritas for Sam's party and some time staring at the ocean had seemed just the trick.

Spotting Rose and the others had nearly made Karla turn around, but...she and Rose had seemed to come to an accord around Prom. They weren't friends, but they had proven they could at least be civil to one another. And the things Rose had written in her yearbook had been rather sweet. So rather than turn around, Karla gave a shy wave and smile instead.

Of course, the one time Karla might have preferred rude Rose...

"Hi Rose," she said, joining the small group. "Congratulations. I almost felt sorry for that creature at the end there. Whoever that crazy lady was--" and Karla was not going to dignify her with the title of 'witch' "--I don't think she was expecting you."

Lissa chuckled, glancing over at Rose. "No one ever does," she said fondly. She offered her hand to Karla "Hi. I'm Lissa Dragomir, Rose's friend."
