Covent Garden Flowers :: Thursday, May 6

Mother's Day wasn't a big holiday in Fandom due to most mothers of the island residents being located elsewhere (or tragically dead in many cases, poor sweetpeas), but Vida was still experiencing floral exasperation due to vendors telling her sob stories about crops being late and airports closing and low production. They were so lucky she was a lady, or they'd have to face her wrath.

Joan was out in town doing some last minute errands and shopping for her trip so she could pack since she was leaving tomorrow.

One of her errands was something she should have done a week or two ago but she hated doing because it made the whole 'leaving Fandom' thing seem so final.

She entered the shop and noticed that Miss Vida looked a little stressed and her guilt levels shot through the roof. She offered a hesitant smile. "Hey, Miss Vida. How are you today?"

"All graduated and feeling mildly terrified about being an actual grown-up," Joan said, happily giving her boss a hug.

Joan chuckled. "Yeah. Uh. Speaking of work? I probably should have told you this a couple of weeks ago but, um... I'm leaving tomorrow for a two month backpacking trip."

"Yeah, little bit," Joan said, looking down and biting her lip. "I will be back for July and August before I move away, but I understand if you end up hiring someone to fill my spot."

"Thank you, Miss Vida," Joan said with a little smile. "I do love working here."

"I will," Joan promised. "And good luck with your vendors."
