Our Lady of Fandom, Thursday

The first pew of the church was roped off with a sign reading "please do not disturb the kittens". Underneath it, Angelbane stared at the congregations' feet, wondering if any of them would give her tuna.

"I apologize for my recent absence," Castiel began. "I was . . . called away on business."

And then he started to tell a story. The story of a determined angel and his human charges, going up against all odds to save the rest of humanity. Hunted by demons, angels, and humans alike, persecuted, but remaining determined. They found the anti-Christ, they fought War and Famine and they won. They even treked through Heaven itself, braving heartbreakingly good memories and astonishingly dickish angels to track down the Almighty himself and request his assistance.

Only to get turned down. And then one of the intrepid humans gave in and decided to end the world, anyway, even though he and his brother and his angel had screwed themselves over dozens of times in order to prevent it, had sacrificed everything they had in the name of saving humanity, everything but each other and their integrity. And the guy just had to give it all away, anyway.

The end.

Yeah, Castiel was gonna keep being bitter about that one for a little while. And if he happened pause here and there in his tale to sip from the sacramental wine, well, that was nobody's business but his own, right?

Right.

[ooc: Look, you watch season five and then come up with an uplifting sermon. OCD is coming up.]

Chuck had maybe thought that kittens and some time would make Castiel feel a little better about what happened. And apparently he was wrong.

This might be a long summer.

Disturbing the kittens was not a problem for Angua. She was going to give kittens plenty of space, oh yes. She tried her best not to even acknowledge their presence through the sermon.

Which, actually, despite the beginning, turned out to be rather good, in her opinion. None of this Christianity thing as a whole made sense to her at all, but the moral of today's story...well, that was just how it was. You couldn't begrudge life for how it was.

Okay, every time she breathed in an caught a nice whiff of the angel's mood, perhaps you could begrudge it. A lot.

"Been drinking a lot today, Cass?" Chuck asked, actually sounding kind of amused.

"So you rambling on about how Dean is a dick was supposed to teach us a lesson somehow?" Chuck asked.

"I guess I can't argue with those being good lessons," Chuck allowed. "But I don't think it really came through during the sermon."

No, it had sounded a lot like a drunk complaining.

"Ah. Well I guess I can see it now that you mention it," Chuck said, tilting his head to the side a little as he thought about the whole thing. "I'll admit I have been bad about betrayal in the past, but I really try not to do it to people I like."

Chuck smirked. "I find sometimes it's necessary."

"Exactly. Happens in business all the time," Chuck said. "But betraying your friends is hardly excusable in most cases."

Chuck gave Castiel a sympathetic look. "I don't think he meant to hurt you."

"Yeah, you usually do know what you're doing when you betray somebody," Chuck said. It wouldn't be a betrayal otherwise. "You should be mad at him; what he did was stupid. But don't think all of your friends would do that to you."

...if I haven't watched Season 5 yet, am I going to get completely spoiled by reading the sermon? I'm not complaining, just wondering so I can skim if necessary. :)

<3

I know it's my fail for not staying up to date, but I appreciate it greatly!

AHAHAA, tell me about it. I'm currently trying to put together a canon plot for Rose without spoiling the entire game for the whole series. It's full of awesome. :D
