Caritas- Saturday

After spending some time at the picnic, Jaina went to work, feeling pretty good considering there didn't seem to be any new relatives in this bunch. And to think, if this turned out to be her last picnic, she might never have to have that worry again.

She almost didn't know what to do with herself at that thought.

Figuring today would either be super quiet as the new people settled in, or busy as they figured out that the bar in town didn't card, Jaina set things up and got her phone out to play with it until people showed.

Yeah, there was a picnic and all, but picnics weren't really Mick's thing. Plus it was amazing enough that he'd actually realised it was Saturday. He figured he was doing well to have made it to Fandom on the right day, and that deserved a reward.

He grinned and tipped his hat at the sheila behind the bar. "G'day, luv. Grab us a beer, will ya?"

Caritas was mostly like he remembered. Close enough. "There's no possible way that you're the bartender. No way, now how," Hawkeye said, introducing himself in a roundabout way.

"Go on then," he replied with another grin. "See if you can figure it out."

"G'day, mate." Mick offered his hand to shake. "Mick Dundee from Australia. How you going?"

Hawkeye was all about the hand-shaking today. He returned the shake with vigor. Granted, not as much vigor as there would be after a drink or two, but it was a respectable amount of vigor. "Hawkeye Pierce of the United States. Considering the length of the day and the adjustment to these fine surroundings we find ourselves in, I have to say I'm going pretty well. First day?" he asked.

"First day, but the place seems all right so far. Course all I've seen is the pub," he admitted with a grin. "Picnics're not really my cup of tea."

"Got it in one," he said, with a quick nod of his head. "Went walkabout in New York for a bit, but Australia's home, little place called Walkabout Creek up in the Territory."

"This place doesn't hire beautiful women, unless there's been a significant overhaul of their recruiting process in the time I've been gone, you can't possibly be the bartender."

"Mick, we've only just met and I can already tell we're going to be friends." Provided he could keep understanding what the heck Mick was saying. So far, so good. "I went to the picnic. You didn't miss anything other than free food. Everyone who was there, you can meet this week if you get out long enough."

"Yeah, can you believe they let me teach?" He laughed. "Gonna be giving the ankle-biters a quick run down on surviving in Australia. It's not within a cooee of my usual lark, but I figure I'll give it a fair suck of the sav, see how it turns out."

"I'm out of practice, so the compliment is appreciated. A martini, gin not vodka, two olives and as dry as the state of New Mexico if you please. While you're at it, please tell me you're not a student. College student, maybe, which is a roundabout way of saying you look old enough to be one, but without the fallout of insulting a lady by commenting on her age."

If there is a bar, Faith will find it.

"I really hope you have something besides virgin drinks, girly."

"You can never have too many mates," he replied with a grin. "Food I can get anywhere and I never have trouble meetin' people. 'sides, I'm gonna be here for awhile, giving teaching a burl. Reckon it should be a bit of a corker."
