The Park, early evening

Raven was torn between investigating this "GodCon" and confronting her father, or just hiding in her room and hoping he wouldn't come looking for her there. She didn't want to be a coward, but she didn't want to do anything foolish, either. Now night was beginning to fall, and she was still loathe to be outside alone when it was dark. She had to make a decision soon.

"Raaaaaaaaaaven," Sebastian called. He had a bouquet of dark red roses in his hand.

Raven whirled around at the familiar voice, her fear spiking again. She hadn't been expecting Sebastian, too. "You are not welcomed here," she said, trying to keep her voice and emotions steady. "If you attempt to harm me again, you will regret it."

"Why would I hurt you?" Sebastian said, drawing closer. "I love you. And you love me."

She knew she should just teleport to safety, but something was compelling her to remain where she was, a subtle blanket of power that was trying to confuse her senses. "I do not love you," she said, shaking her head and trying to clear it. "You are very mistaken."

"You willllll," Sebastian said in a sing-song voice. He thrust the roses into her hand.

"I will not," Raven insisted. "You are evil. I do not like you. And I have a boyfriend." She couldn't help but take a little pleasure in telling him that last part.

Sebastian's eyes narrowed. "Who?" he demanded, darting forward with inhuman speed to seize Raven's wrist. "I will rip him apart and drink his blood."

"You will not dare harm him," Raven said, trying to pull free. "I will not allow you."

"Tell me," Sebastian yelled. "He won't stand between us. I won't let it. You're promised to me."

"My father made that promise, not me," Raven said. "You have no claim to me." His words were sinking into her brain, trying to make her believe they were true, and she had to struggle to shield herself from their power.

"Why are you fighting me, Raven?" Sebastian pouted. "You are my destiny, and I am yours. We are going to create utopia. We will bring the world their savior. You are the doorway to bring salvation to the world, and our child will rule for a thousand years of peace. Our followers will consume the non-believers until only the truly faithful remain." He squeezed her wrist more tightly. "Stop resisting me!"

"You are hurting me," Raven said, dropping the roses to the ground as his grip on her wrist increased. "I do not wish any part of this. Let me go!"

"Or what?" Sebastian grinned, yanking her against him. "No one can stop me. I am going to take you back to the ones who worship you. The ones who love you. And our one faith will unify the world."

Yeah, yeah, still not her job, there was someone on island whose job it really was, yadda yadda. That was logic, and it could bite her, because Kennedy was still out on patrol anyway.

She'd pretty much resigned herself to it being completely uneventful as always when she heard yelling, and maybe perking up like that was an inappropriate response but at least she was jogging toward the source of the noise.

Raven's voice, she realized as she got closer, taking a moment to shake her head at the irony here.

"Hey," she yelled, twitching her hand holding the stake into a more visible position. "Maybe you should do what the girl says."

"I like you, Raven," Sebastian sighed. "But I hate your friends." He glared at Kennedy. "This is no concern of yours, girl. Go away."

Kennedy glanced from Sebastian to Raven and back, pointedly. "She doesn't want to go anywhere with you. Kinda makes it my concern," she answered in a flat voice. "You know, unless you decide to stop being a jackass and listen to her."

"Kennedy, be careful," Raven warned, still trying to pull free of Sebastian's grasp. "He is --."

"...her betrothed," Sebastian said smoothly, interrupting Raven. "And this is a private matter. Begone."

Sure, Sebastian. Tell her that and expect her to listen. You clearly don't know her at all.

"And that doesn't make it any less creepy," Kennedy retorted without missing a beat. "How about you haul ass first and then I'll go?"

"We were just about to leave," Sebastian said. "Come along, my love." He tugged at Raven.

"Oh, really," Kennedy shot back scornfully as she moved in a step closer. She looked straight at Raven and raised an eyebrow. "Something tells me that wasn't on your schedule for the night, was it, Raven?"

Yeah, so Karla'd spent most of the day being leered at by Trigon. She wasn't sure what was worse--the fact that he'd been creepy at her all day, or that she had to hide it from Saetan so he didn't decide to get all Warlord Prince-y on her.

Of course, it was fairly tempting, but she was pretty sure that a lot of the surrounding buildings wouldn't survive.

So she really wasn't pleased when she cut through the park and came face-to-face with Sebastian Blood. Oh, yeah, she remembered him. From both their first meeting and again from Raven's mind.

"Kiss kiss," she said coldly. Funny how it sounded pretty close to "Go shove a knife up your ass."

"It was not," Raven said needlessly, resisting Sebastian's pull. "He believes my father has promised me to him." She knew Kennedy would understand what that meant.

Fortunately, Karla was not Andy or Sebastian might've had to do just that. "Do not tempt me to do just that to you," he snarled.

Constance had to be headdesking somewhere; that poor Watcher definitely deserved hazard pay.

"He's an idiot," Kennedy decided immediately, and yes, she knew the idiot in question was right there, and no, she didn't care if she was talking about him like he wasn't. "You might wanna let go of her there, pal. Like now, before it hurts."
