Mary had conducted her post-convention inventory and found that the gods had left the hotel's rooms pretty much as they found them. One guest had apparently brought a pet owl that caused some damage to the curtains, but the guest had left payment for the damage.

What had Mary's head spinning was that the woman had paid for the damages in olives. There were baskets of fresh olives, both green and black, along with jars of various pickled olives. She'd even left behind numerous bottles of olive oil. Mary was ready to charge the woman for additional damages when Gunther intervened. Apparently the market value of the extra virgin olive oil more than covered the cost of the damages, and then some. So Mary let the issue go.
