Dite's Decadent Delights, Monday Afternoon
"Excuse me, miss, but I've got a delivery for some long, hard wood here for you."
Karla glanced up from her magazine in confusion at the male lounging in the doorway to the shop. He was wearing loose overalls, an open button-down shirt, and a thick work belt hanging low on his hips. He kept running his fingers idly down the grip of his hammer, while in the other hand he held several large planks of wood--oak, maybe, or walnut.
"I'm sorry, what?" she asked politely. "I wasn't told to expect a delivery today." 'Dite did most of the renovations herself, with a snap of her finger and a bit of goddess-y magic. So why would she call this guy?
The male looked a little taken aback, as if that wasn't the response he'd been expecting. But pushed gamely on anyway. "I'm here for whatever you need," he said, giving her a slow smile. "Whether it's some long, slow, wood-working or just a quick bit of nailing, I'm your man."
"I really don't think I need any of those things," Karla said, trying to think if there was any part of the store that remained unfinished. "I think everything here's all set."
The carpenter was starting to look a little panicked now. "Haven't you ever wanted to screw a stud?" he asked, jingling a small pouch on his belt.
"What? No," Karla said, rolling her eyes. "Look, I'm pretty sure you've got the wrong address. They're building a community center in town, maybe you were looking for that?"
"Wait, no!" he cried. "I want to bang--"
"Wrong building."
"I'm gonna lay--"
"Wrong! Building!"
"THE HAMMER IS MY--!"
Karla sighed and just slammed the door closed with a bit of Craft, leaving the crazy male shouting something on the other side.
Honestly. Why couldn't some people just take a hint?
