Tim had found a decent supply of rocks and was attempting to teach himself to skip them. He was having moderate success.

Though he kept pausing for longer and longer periods of time to just stop and stare out at the bay.

Gwynn had been wandering for a bit after leaving the campgrounds and when she saw Tim, she stopped and watched him for a little while. She wasn't sure what he was doing, but after the third time of seeing him pause and just stare into the distance, she made her way over the rocks and down to his side.

If he wanted to talk, he would. If not, she would just keep him company.

He turned when he saw her coming and smiled. "Hey you."

She smiled back at him and when she got to his side, she tilted her head. "Hey you."

As she got closer, Gwynn my notice that Tim was wearing the pendant she'd given him, oh so long ago. "You haven't by any chance run into Artie have you?"

Gwynn did in fact notice that he was wearing her pendant and it made her very curious.

She smiled and nodded. "I'm one of his TAs. It's been great seeing him again."

"The first time I met him, which was the first time I met anyone here actually, he thought I was someone named Pete. First day and already I ran into the whole double in another world thing."

"Yep. Then it flung me straight into our first adventure." And then left him out of every single one after that. But he wasn't bitter.

"Our vampire fairy fight, I remember." She smiled. "I also remember you rescued me from that horrible boy my first day who kept wanting me to take my shirt off."

"Well that's what we heroes do you know. Rescue fair maidens."

She tilted her head at him and then gave him another smile. "You are quite possibly the only man who could call me that and not get hit because it sounds like an insult. It doesn't sound like that when you say it."

"The maiden part? Cause I have a hard time believing being called fair would be an insult."

"You would be surprised what could be made to sound like an insult back home, Tim. When the soldiers refer to me as a maiden, it means that they think I am easy to beat due to my gender." She shrugged. "When you say it, you don't mean it like that."

"That should make them all the easier to beat shouldn't it?" he guessed. "You know, the whole underestimating thing. Me, I know better. I've known enough tough women in my time."

"Oh sometimes it very much does," she agreed. "That makes you a much better man in my eyes than most."

Tim maaaaybe preened just a bit. And blushed. "Well you're a cut above a lot of the girls I've known too." Partly because many of the girls he'd known well were somewhat crazy.

Gwynn turned to look at him and smiled again. "I believe that is a compliment. Thank you."

"Yeah my delivery is usually much different with insults. Listen, uh, I don't know if I already said it but, I'm really glad you're staying."

She smiled. "I'm glad I'm staying, as well. I would have missed you."

"When I came back...everyone I knew had left. Except you. I was uh...well I'm glad I didn't miss you. You know?"

She nodded. "I'm glad you came back, Tim. I was worried that I would never see you again."

Tim was silent for a moment. "So uh, how's Conner?"

Gwynn was silent for a moment as she tried to think how to phrase it and finally she shrugged.

"I assume that he is happy. I haven't spoken to him in a long while."

"Aren't you two still together?"

"I guess not since he has not been in contact with me for so long," Gwynn said honestly. "Eve said that I've been... dumped?" She shrugged again. "I have decided that she is correct as I did not speak to him at all at my graduation, and he hasn't returned my calls for awhile."

Gwynn looked at her hands for a long moment and then spread them, looking back at Tim. "He is a good man, but I am not the one for him. I wish him happiness in his future."

"Oh shit Gwynn I'm sorry." Tim wondered how good a guy Conner could be if he didn't even bother to talk to Gwynn and just let her hang like that. It seemed like a strange thing for his old roommate to do.

"Why are you sorry, Tim? Conner and I were together for almost three years and people tell me that it was normal for us to grow apart as long distance relationships are hard." She smiled gently. "He will always have a part of my heart, but this was apparently not meant to be between us. He is a hero and has his soccer camps that take up all of his time, and that's not a bad thing. Sports have always been his first love, and I can understand that. My heart is not broken."

"Well, as long as you're okay." Some of his friends he knew were still surprised he and T'ing had not lasted as a couple.

"I really am," she assured him. "Besides," she said, turning to look back over the water. "It wasn't fair to him."

"How so?" he asked, attempting to skip another stone. This time he failed.

"Because I realized that I still had feelings for someone else."

Eve would be so proud of her.

Still had feelings for someone? "Philip?" he guessed. Yes. Guys can be incredibly stupid about this.

It's a good thing that Gwynn never picked up the habit of facepalming in the four years she had been here.

"No, Tim, not Phillip. Phillip is many yhings to me, but not in that way."

"When uh, when did you realize..."

"I think it was when I realized that you were the one I always wanted to talk to whenever I had serious thoughts in my head." She ran her hand through the sand beside her. "I realized it quite strongly when I was so upset the night of graduation and you were the one I called."

"It's been what, three years?" he said, marveling. And reaching for her hand.

Gwynn nodded, squeezing his hand. "Yes, I believe so."

"I think I realized it when you said you might have to leave." Well, maybe when their daughter showed up.

"That scared me a great deal," Gwynn admitted. "I was very much trying to figure out a way that I could stay or run away or something."

Yes, she had also started having an inkling when their daughter showed up.

"You never struck me as the running away type." He was still holding her hand.

"I'm not usually," Gwynn admitted, holding onto his hand, as well. "But when faced with the idea of perhaps never seeing you or Eve again? I couldn't just accept that."

Another blush. "So..uh, you wanna go out sometime?"
