Caritas; Thursday Evening

Chuck made the mistake of checking his mail before work and found something from Dan of all people. It wasn't some love letter or anything, just a yellow envelope with the most recent issues of US Weekly, OK!, and a few other tabloid magazines with just a simple note that said "Serena's been busy in Europe". Now he was spending his shift flipping through the magazines, looking at pictures of his sister making the family look horrible. He expected a call for bail money any minute now.

Though he had to admit, the ones of Serena topless in St. Tropez were nice to look at, even with the censor bar covering the goods.

Dean was still out of sorts from the conversation with Sammy yesterday so it was grumbling Dean that headed into Caritas and sat down at the bar. "Whiskey and keep it coming."

Chuck tossed the magazine he was holding aside and grabbed a whiskey bottle. "Bad day?"

"Did you know that Sammy's planning on leaving at the end of this session?" To Dean that totally answered the question.

"It's come up in conversation, yeah," Chuck said. He poured Dean a glass of whiskey and then just decided to leave the bottle by his side. "He didn't tell you?"

"Yesterday," Dean said, pausing to down the glass and pour himself another. "He didn't think to mention it before."

Chuck facepalmed internally and wondered how someone as smart as Sam could be so stupid sometimes. "He really needs to work on his communication skills."

"Ya think?" Dean downed the second glass.

Chuck gave Dean a slightly disapproving look, not thinking the situation warranted that kind of drinking. "It's not like you can't visit him, Dean."

Which was more than Chuck could say, considering he'd just end up fighting with Peter the whole time if he went there.

It's doing things to me, too. And I think I like it.

"And that's all it would be -- visiting," Dean said, pointing with the glass. "I took a break from hunting and all of that to come back so I could be here so Sammy and I could spend one last summer together before he's off to college and his normal life. Except turns out he can't freaking wait to leave for that."

I totally agree. *locks Raven in a closet so she doesn't misbehave* ;)

"Okay, yeah, that's kind of an asshole move, he should have mentioned it months ago," Chuck said, since he knew about it before graduation. "But I don't blame him for being excited about college and having a little independence."

Dean made a face. "Excited yeah, but it'll come soon enough. He doesn't need to rush it."

"Hey, I'd rather have him stay here too, but it doesn't look like it's gonna happen," Chuck said with a shrug. "So you might as well hang out with him while you can."

"And I will," Dean said. "But I just need to be pissed and disappointed for a day or two first."

"Ah, and that's why you're here," Chuck said, glad Dean was moping around here rather than around Sam. "This is a great place to be pissed and disappointed, I have to say."

"It's also where the booze lives," Dean pointed out, with a ghost of his usual smirk.

"Yes, there's that too," he said. "But keep in mind I've been drinking too, and therefore my ability to drag you home without falling over has been significantly diminished."

"Do you drag many drunk people home?" Dean asked curiously.

Chuck smirked. "Just people I like. So not many."

Dean nodded, and poured himself another glass, then hesitated and held the bottle up in a mute offer to Chuck.

Chuck wasn't one to say no to liquor when it was offered to him, so he took the bottle out of Dean's hand and filled his own glass. "You know I don't usually drink this stuff."

"No one's forcing you to drink it now," Dean pointed out, downing his own glass. He eyed Chuck for a minute. "So are you planning on taking off when this session is over too?"

"Nah, staying all summer," Chuck said before draining his own glass. Yeah, definitely preferred scotch. "I prefer it here."

Dean held his glass out for a refill. "Good. Gotta have someone to annoy after Sammy's run off."

Chuck rolled his eyes as he refilled Dean's glass. "I'm honored you think I'm worth annoying."

"You are totally worth it," Dean said, the words maybe coming out with a little bit more sincerity than he'd intended, but hey, he had been drinking.

"Thanks," he said, catching the sincerity in that. In true Chuck fashion, he poured himself another glass of whiskey in order to ease the discomfort he always felt when people got sincere with him, and to keep the bottle away from Dean at the same time.

"I suppose I could think of worse people to annoy me," he joked lightly.

"Course you can. 'Cause when it's me and you, it always seems to end in sex," Dean pointed out.

"You got a problem with that?" Chuck asked before taking a swig of whiskey. He was feeling like a slacker on the drinking thing, here.

"Hell no," Dean said, reaching for the bottle again. "The only time I have a problem with sex is when it's me and Sammy. Being evil. Evil sex. Evil incestuous sex. Which wouldn't be as disturbing if it didn't keep happening." Yeah the alcohol was definitely starting to kick in now.

Chuck had the feeling he was going to regret handing Dean back the bottle, but he went ahead and did it anyway. "Yeah, that's pretty screwed up."

He was so glad any incriminating baggage that said otherwise had gone away.

"At least it only happens when you're evil?"

"Dude." Dean paused in the act of pouring himself another shot to stare at Chuck wide eyed. "'Course it only happens when we're evil. He's my brother. That shit is just fucked up."

"Yeah I guess it is pretty disturbing," Chuck said. He tilted his head to the side. "Never really thought about it when I was sleeping with those sets of twins..."

"Twins are different," Dean said, giving up on pouring and just taking a swig straight from the bottle. "Alec's not my actual twin but he could be. And he and I? That's just hot. Twins are equal. And usually hot. Sammy's my little brother. I helped change his diapers for crying out loud."

"Yeah, okay, that's really gross," Chuck said, hoping that he'd wake up tomorrow with no knowledge of this disturbing conversation. "Stop hogging the bottle. We gotta finish it now that you put your lips all over the thing."

Several drinks in and he still thought of health code violations. Now there was a businessman.

Dean gave him a look. "You don't complain when I put my lips all over you."

Chuck smirked. "That's different. It doesn't violate any health codes. Well...it could, I suppose, depending on where we did it."

"I'm sure we've violated a few codes," Dean said, with a waggling of his eyebrows.

"If not any health ones, some moral codes for sure," Chuck agreed. "I never liked those much anyway."
