All Around Town | Community Project | Tuesday | June 22

With the community center finished, a new community project was needed. This time, the administration had decided to go in a more...decorative direction. It was time to beautify the island! Currently, landscapers and gardeners were set up in the park, replanting some of the flowers that hadn't made it through the winter and planting new ones.

There were packets of seeds on the benches along with piles of gardening equipment. Everyone was going to be working in and around the park today, planting flowers that along the various sidewalks and in the flowerbeds. It was going to be a warm day so water and shade was provided for when the workers needed to take breaks.

So, dig in and prepare to get a green thumb!

Karla had been scouting the town as part of her last assignment for Reno. She'd been hoping to find out something more about 'Dite, but the store remained dark and still.

She'd continued her rounds until the landscaping caught her eye. Surely Reno wouldn't mind if she spent just a little time gardening. Besides, she could make the argument that she was really getting a feel for the park while she planted.

Humming quietly to herself, Karla settled in to plant flower beds and cultivate beds.

Karla had worked right through lunch without stopping. Working the land was soothing, it eased some of her emotional turmoil from the day before. Planting the seeds and tilling the soil allowed her to pour her emotions into the earth like a torrent. It didn't do anything for her mental turmoil--she was still hurt and confused and scared by the events at 'Dite's, but she no longer felt like crying or hiding or throwing up every time she thought of going back--not that she would be, not while it was the way it was, but she could face the idea with a calm mental equanimity that she had lacked before.

And if the ashes of a certain outfit happened to be scattered amongst the seeds, who would ever know?
