It was Mary's birthday today, and while she normally would have thrown a huge party for herself, her plans just hadn't come together this year. Besides, the little angel on her shoulder told her that she should stay for a double shift since her night auditor couldn't come in. And even thought the little devil on her other shoulder told her otherwise, Mary had gotten used to ignoring that voice.

"You can just shut it," Mary told the little devil. "I'm through with listening to you. I always end up regretting the stuff that you tell me to do." Sure, she was getting some very strange looks from Gunther, but speaking out loud was making it easier to resist the little devil's suggestions.
