Chilly Boulder, Saturday mid-morning

Chilly Boulder lacked a hitching post, which would be because Fandom wasn't located in the Old West and its customers rarely arrived on horses. They did, however, sometimes arrive on dragons. Well, a dragon, anyway, and Toothless touched down neatly in the narrow street.

He made himself comfortable, curling into a neat curve outside the shop window, while his person and the other person he quite liked went inside. The lack of hitching posts wasn't a problem, since he had no intention of going anywhere until he'd had his ice cream.

"So," Hiccup said as he gazed upon the wonder that was Chilly Boulder's ice cream selection. "This is ice cream. What do you think?"

[OOC: For the One-With-The-Swagger, but the shop is open for your ice cream needs!]

Dragon rides did add a certain swagger to Cara's step, after taking a moment to nod a 'hello ladies' to the NPC staff, she looked over the various tubs of ice cream. "It looks...cold?" And better than most of her cooking, so there was that.

Sadly, Hiccup was not Cara, and thus probably didn't realise how that might have sounded. But if he listened to her as she raised an eyebrow and said "I thought this wasn't a romance thing?" he could think like her.

Cara looked down, then up, and Hiccup was now in an ice-cream parlour with a Mord'Sith who was barely keeping from laughing. This was a far more fun result than Richard just ignoring her when she teased him.

Mean Cara.

"I know, I know" she said, after she thought he'd flailed enough. "You're attached and and I'm... not interested in you like that. At all."

Apart from the last three items, Cara wasn't entirely sure what Hiccup was actually ordering. Which was a sad loss for her teasing and a win for his dignity.

Instead she studied the selection of ice creams more closely, wondering how exactly they'd achieved the some of lurid colours. Eventually one nearly the colour of her agiels caught her eye. "I'll have that one. Just that one. By itself."
wrongkindofsith: (At least one of us has a clue)

Cara nodded. "I can do that."

As she carried them over to an unoccupied table, she studied the bowls with no small amount of curiosity. Were she not Mord'Sith, she might have been vaguely intimidated by Hiccup's ridiculous sundae.

Cara was equally careful as she tried a spoonful from her bowl, though for different reasons. "It's cold." She could taste wine as well as some kind of berries. "Like flavoured snow." Which wasn't exactly a bad thing as far as Cara was concerned.

Cara shook her head. "Wizards can do some things with ice, but not like this."

If they could, they would have to roll Zedd around the Midlands.

Cara eyed the ridiculous sundae warily. "I've had cream, cherries and nuts before." Even if she didn't remember cherries being quite that colour.
wrongkindofsith: (Pretty sure you're insane)

Cara really wasn't sure about this, but rather than risk the ice cream getting nudged far enough it ended up in her lap, she reached over to scoop up a sample of the various toppings on the sundae.

She studied her spoon, it looked very...sticky.

Still eyeing Hiccup and the sundae warily, Cara put the sticky, syrupy spoon in her mouth.

"Sweet." she managed after a moment. "Really sweet." There wasn't exactly a whole lot of refined sugar in the Midlands, so this was a bit much even for someone with a sweet tooth

"If you say so." For her part, she was extremely glad they'd gone flying before he ate that, instead of after.

"Food which tastes good?" She didn't think Hiccup would really appreciate any stories about Shadrin liver. "I'm not really a good person to ask about things like that."

He could probably spend hours on the topic with Zedd though.

Cara had fun. Just not the kind that most other people did.

"You mean like a trebuchet?" Mord'Sith didn't get involved in siege warfare very often, so Cara hadn't used them much, but they definitely fell under what she'd consider fun.

"Are these the kind of calibration issues that result in getting hit with your own ammunition?"

[personal profile] wrongkindofsith 2010-07-12 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
Cara found that far more amusing than she probably should. "You'll need to, I don't have spare leathers if these get wet."
wrongkindofsith: (...in step five I kill you)

Cara didn't know who Calvin was, but it was almost certain he was far less likely to respond to an accidental soaking with violence.

"Good, soakings are for other people."
