The woods, Thursday, sunrise
The stone felt bloated.
Yes, it was a stone, which almost by definition couldn't bloat, but it was loaded down with the memories and dreams of everyone it had touched. That was a lot for a medium-sized stone to carry.
Satisfied it had everything it needed, the stone called its power back. The power responded with alacrity, spiralling into the stone which twisted it, turned it inwards, blended it with the dreams it had shared, and sent out the call. An invitation to those who had passed on, one last chance to see those they loved, to put old grievances to rest, to say goodbyes they'd never had the chance to say. A chance to visit the living world – to be part of the living world – one last time.
The stone was honest: it was only for a short time, not for forever (it was only a medium-sized stone, after all; there was a limit to what it could do), but it would build a gate for anyone who chose to come.
Devoid of the power which had saturated it for the past two days, the island might feel curiously vacant. Still. Almost as if it was waiting.
[NFI, NFB. Feel free to keep dreaming and/or MYO posts to keep hunting around the woods, just remember there's no power signature to follow now. The dead will arrive this evening; the post will go up around 15:00 FH time.]
