Luke's Diner, Thursday

The strawberry cake last week had been a perfect bribe to avoid the glaring Francine wasn't sure she was going to get when she broke the dishes she wasn't sure she was going to break.

This time she didn't dream about breaking anything, but she still brought in extra cookies, just in case. It seemed like a sound policy in general.

Today's Specials

Maple-roasted root vegetables
Maple Drop Cookies

Luke's was open way late, oh day, I'm so glad you are over and mapley.

[OOC: and the OCD ran away with the spoon!]

"What's with all the maple, Francie?" This would be Katchoo plunking down at the counter and staring at the board. "Are you trying to suck up to Lacey or somethin'?"

Somewhere else in town, Lacey was having a random fantasy sequence about being a Mountie.

"She's Canadian, Francie," Katchoo replied, taking up the slack since it wasn't like Francine could see said random fantasy sequence. "She'd probably complain about enforcing stereotypes, but you're cute enough to get away with it."

Yes, that might be hard to dispute.

"You know, one of these days?" Katchoo reached for the nearest salt shaker and started to spin it around on the counter. "There'll be an invasion that needs to be stopped by baking about seven zillion cookies, and we won't be around for it."

Sorry, Francine; Katchoo kept brooding over that, lately. "Especially if it was the smell of baking cookies that was the key part."

She realized what a downer that was; that was why she was reaching out across the counter to Francine.

"Could always hope they save that one for a visit?"

"So we'll take over somebody's house for the week. Commandeer it in the name of saving the island."

Hello there, deluxe vacation package view! This was Katchoo not lodging a complaint with the travel agency at all.

"Speaking of hotel rooms . . ."

"As long as it's not rocky road." Katchoo glanced past Francine to see the busboy peering over curiously, and flipped him off. "Howsabout we give that a try in, say, San Diego next weekend?"

[identity profile] thismaskiwear.livejournal.com 2010-07-17 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Because," Katchoo said -- hello, cat-who-ate-the-canary voice, "the perfectly good hotel here isn't hosting the Bitterwoman panel at San Diego Comic-Con with previews from the new movie and signings with a bunch of the artists?"

[identity profile] thismaskiwear.livejournal.com 2010-07-18 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes, really, Francie, geez!" Or, you know, not at all, since Katchoo had been sitting on this secret for months. Since about November, really. "Four day passes, hotel booked, and everything."

[identity profile] thismaskiwear.livejournal.com 2010-07-18 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
"FRANCINE! COFFEE!" was about as much as Katchoo was able to get out before there was smooshy hugginess that made further yelling a little difficult. "Geez, be a little more enthusiastic, will ya?"

No, Katchoo, don't tell her that. God.

"Nah, just be willing to sell a kidney. Or a slightly used liver," Katchoo cracked. As if anyone would want her liver. "I got 'em forever ago. Surprise?"
