Luke was still trying to process meeting his mother, and (it had to be admitted) the pastries on secret Rebel bases left a lot to be desired.

He decided to contemplate the conversation he'd had with her yesterday between bites of bear claw. Hooray for multi-tasking?

It had started out with a desperate need for coffee anywhere but at her place, but once Jaina got further out into town and realized she could sense Luke, her reason for being out changed. Especially when she was pretty sure she could guess why he was here.

She was smiling a little even as she opened the door, greeting him with, "Hey, you."

Luke grinned back. "Hey!" He stood up to hug her. "How are you?"

He was smiling, that was good! "The usual," she said, hugging him back hard. "How are you doing?"

Luke hugs made everything better, seriously.

"Ask an easier question," he said with a little laugh. "I met my dead mother yesterday. I don't really know how I am."

"Yeah, I kinda figured that was going to happen," Jaina said, looking him over. "You look okay, at least?"

"She's a lot like Leia," Luke said, "which I should have figured out? But I never really thought about it." He dropped back into his chair. "Have you met her?"

"No," she said, taking a seat. "I listened to radio the other day, though, so I knew she's around. How did it go?"

He smiled. "Really well, after the initial hugging and crying. Is there someone here for you?"

"Yeah," she said slowly, "but it's probably not something I should talk about. But it went... well."

"I've seen Ben since he passed, but he was kind of blue and insubstantial," Luke said. "I could hug Mother. It's...strange."

"And they're still around," Jaina said. "Somehow I expected everyone to be here and then not." Which was both making her hope no one unexpected showed, and hope to get more encounters with people at the same time.

Luke nodded. "I'm grateful for it," he said. "Leia left me a message on Thursday and I could still get her to meet her." He made a little face. "I need to give her instructions on leaving better messages."

"It's good that you got the chance," Jaina said. She might have been feeling a little bad that the rest of her family couldn't be here, in fact. "It's not really an opportunity most people get. Score one for Fandom there."

Leia just knew that Luke was on the island and finally tracked him down that afternoon. "Luke!" she said excitedly. "Did you see her?"

Luke reached out to give her a hug. "I did," he said. "You, little sister, need to give better messages."

"Surprise?" Leia said impishly, hugging him tightly back.

"And a wonderful one, but a little warning would have been nice," Luke scolded.

"I'm sorry," Leia said, eyes twinkling. "I was so excited I didn't even realize what I was saying. I'll be more specific next time, I promise."

He reached out to tap her on the nose. "Next time," he teased. "Now, tell me everything she told you."

"I told her how Bail and Breha raised me, and about you and that she has grandchildren," Leia said. "We talked about Father and what happened to her and...everything." She paused, frowning a little. "She already knew that Father had remarried. She must've already been to see him."

"I'll bet that was a fun conversation," Luke said dryly.

"I imagine so," Leia sighed. "I hope it didn't go too badly. I'm fairly certain he didn't want to see her, given how he reacted when I told him about the dreams."

Luke raked his hand through his hair and sighed. "Yeah. They're a little complicated."

"That's what he said," Leia said, rolling her eyes. "Funny how he'd never mentioned that to me before."

"He probably didn't think there was a need," Luke said. He smiled. "I know getting information out if him is like taking a bone from a rancor. Ask Rory--she'll generally tell you."
