Castiel was back behind the pulpit.

OMG.

"A new friend told me this week that I ought to give a sermon on the 'beauty of a single sakura sailing on a gentle western wind ♥'. Having never seen a sakura sailing on a gentle western wind ♥ through human eyes, I decided to do a little bit of research. I found this." He clicked a remote, and the wall behind him lit up with a slide¹ projected from the back of the church.

That's right, someone let Castiel use the projector, again.

"While she is certainly lovely, she didn't seem the sort who would come in multiples, as implied by the specification of 'single' in 'a single sakura sailing on a gentle western wind ♥', so I tried again, this time finding this² and this². Which are certainly multiple and also quite lovely to look at, but do not technically sail. So I tried one more time and found this³, and also this⁴. It was then that I began to understand exactly what my new friend was telling me.

"There is beauty in all things. Every item, every creature, every force, every color on Earth is a finely crafted -- if occasionally absurd -- monument to itself and to life as a whole. Whatever His other issues, I cannot fault my father for granting to world that. So, while most anyone would agree that this² is pretty, we might find beauty and inspiration in this⁵ as well, or this⁶. Beauty is in a chorus of frogs or a professional show choir. In the eruption of a volcano or the deep bowels of the Earth. Beauty is everywhere that you look -- you need only keep your eyes open." Castiel hit the button on his remote again and took a moment to stare at the final picture.⁶

"I actually have no idea what that one is. But it's probably pretty, too."

Of course, Shunsui would be there to hear his new friend's sermon inspired by his new friend despite the mun not really being here. At first, he was a little doubtful as to where this was going, but Castiel-san had brought it around wonderfully, and he agreed! All of those things were very beautiful! Shunsui was almost moved to tears by such a lovely sermon, which got a very non-church-like round of applause and whistling when it was finished.

Quinn sat in a church pew in a modest sundress, hands folded in her lap as hew face crinkled in confusion.

The flowers were .... pretty. So was the water. She was just used to sermons being a lot more about God and Jesus and Hell. She played with the cross on her necklace, wondering if she was somehow in the wrong place.

Kurt shifted in his pew, a bit confused. The presentation wasn't like a normal sermon, and it certainly wasn't anything like Mass, but... this was the most Castiel's church had felt like an actual church, to him.

He wasn't sure what that meant.

"Dude, somebody taught you Google, didn't they?" Dean asked, stooping to remove the firecat kitten from his ankle, where Karal had pounced and latched on.

"It's a remarkably useful tool," said Castiel enthusiastically. "All you have to do is click the 'Images' link and it shows you all sorts of things."

He nodded to the firecat kitten. "I believe they're just about old enough to leave their mother, now."

"Getting tired of being considered the world's biggest kitten toy?" Dean teased.

"I'm not certain about that -- there's a very large variety of cat toys available online. I'm certain some of them are quite large."

"Way to totally miss the point of the question, Cas," Dean said, rolling his eyes with fond amusement. "And anyway, I doubt you can order anything that would provide quite the same kitten playing experience as a real live angel of the lord."

"You don't think the kittens will feel bereft when it's time for them to find their own homes, do you?"

Castiel was suddenly quite concerned about this.

"It's the natural order of things," Dean told him. "You grow up and go out and find your own home." He gave Cas an understanding look. "Doesn't mean you can't visit."

Chuck had been looking for a distraction from his emo and, lo and behold, he found it. "That last picture was truly frightening."

"I know that. I was exaggerating," Chuck said. "It if it were real I wouldn't have stayed here long enough to talk to you."

Castiel nodded. "I suppose that would wise. A cat of the size implied in the image could potentially step on you."

Shunsui who wanted to play this out tomorrow? had to come up and congratulate his new friend on such a wonderful sermon.

"Fantastic ♥!" he praised. "You hit it right on the head ♥. And that last picture is fascinating, where did you find it ♥?"

Yes, he actually rather loved the last picture.

"It's brilliant, that's what it is ♥," said Shunsui, to deftly avoid the Internet detail because who the heck knows with Soul Society? "Tell me, are all your sermons so..." Hands danced in the air, searching for the words. "...visually stimulating ♥?"

"Now you're making me wish I was more of a religious man ♥," said Shunsui with a smirk that clearly indicated his brain was going in a completely opposite direction as to what the reality of that sermon was.

Castiel read slash fiction on the internet, and learned most of what he knew about being human from two of the biggest unapologetic horn dogs on the island.

The reality of the sermon was . . . unique.

"Perhaps it's time to revisit that theme again. There are a number of new people on the island, these days."
