Taste of Thai, Friday Evening
Fortunately, Warren hadn't found himself afflicted with Fandom's unique sense of humor today, and so he didn't have to worry about carting an annoying third party along with him to dinner this evening. As it stood, he was pleased to have Karla all to himself tonight, thank you, without a small horde of people tossing in their two cents at inopportune moments during the conversation.
And just to be certain that it would stay that way, he might have paid extra in advance to make certain that the tables near theirs were going to be empty, too.
Warren was thoughtful that way.
"So," he said, smiling as he pulled a chair out for Karla, "pineapple curry, hm?"
[For the date, of course, but if you have a taste for Thai, it is an open restaurant.]

Emma had gone to Jack's early, so Karla wasn't entirely certain that her dress was okay or her hair was acceptable, but there was one thing she was confident about. Her Sapphire pendant was vanished away, replaced by Sapphire earrings and barrettes...and one very lovely necklace.
"Pineapple curry," she agreed, smiling up at him as she took her seat. "For me, anyway. I certainly wouldn't dream of telling you what to order."
no subject
"I can't imagine you would," he laughed, shaking his head a little as he walked around the table to take his own seat. "I was going to go for the same anyhow, though. And a few appetizers, for variety."
Because if she was going to be stealing his pineapple, then they were going to need some variety on the table, right?
"Any preferences?"
no subject
"Oooh, I like the golden cups," Karla said, pouring over the menu. "Angel wings are really good, too. And you can't go wrong with satay, either beef or chicken. They're both good. Hmm, I've never tried the Thai rolls, but they sure sound tasty."
So, Karla's preference was pretty much the whole menu. Probably not helpful.

"Maybe I'll just get them to send along a bit of everything, and if we get too much we can take the leftovers back to the cabins. Well... Probably your cabin, actually. Mine is just Tara, a hedgehog, and myself at the moment."
Bobby's alcove was in there, too, but since he wasn't on the island right now, he wasn't being counted.
no subject
Bobby and Emma both. Though, at least Emma would have Jack to make her behave.
"Still, your cabin sounds awful lonely," she added, sympathetically. "You should have some company." And then she took a minute to think how that sounded--and tried not to facepalm.
no subject
"I have company right now," he pointed out, demonstrating some rare Worthington tact. "That more than makes up for how insanely empty the Spree cabin is right now."
Flirt.

"Really, an empty cabin just means an excuse to throw a party," she said, after taking a long sip of water. "Either now, or, if you decide to be nice, after Bobby gets back and Kennedy stops being a hedgehog. It's been several weeks since anyone's had a birthday or something. Clearly, we're about due for a party."
no subject
The inclusion of movies, for example, already made them a million times more enjoyable than any so-called party that his father had to throw for the sake of business.

And then, naturally, a moment later, "Is that even sanitary?"
Sometimes, Warren could seriously overthink these things.
no subject
It had been a fun and silly night.
"Though I'll hardly be able to organize something like that again, after confessing so to you," she added. "You'll know exactly who to blame."
no subject
There was a grin on his lips, there, and so he clearly didn't think their crimes were all that heinous.

Warren couldn't see any fault in the plan, himself. Just so long as his own underwear was spared, why should he?
"I'll buy pizza for the invading forces," he added. Because pizza was the important thing, here.

She shook her finger at him. "You pretend to be all sweet and angelic, but you're not, are you. You've a mischievous streak as wide as Bobby's, you just hide it better."
no subject
Yes. Totally Bobby's fault, really.
"He's just a terrible influence on sweet, angelic guys like me. Fortunately, not too many people have figured out how much trouble I really am." He wasn't even trying to bite back his grin, and the glint in his eye didn't do anything to make him look even remotely innocent. "If everybody knew, I'd have to start behaving again, you know."
no subject
"Really?" Karla asked, looking impish. "Well, we couldn't have that! What fun would that be? Your secret is safe with me." Ignoring etiquette, Karla rested her elbow on the table, chin propped upon her palm. "Though maybe I should stick close to you from now on. Be a mitigating influence against Bobby's shenanigans."
Because that's exactly how it would work out, yes.
no subject
"Because that's exactly what I need," he decided. "A mitigating influence. Of course, then there's always the danger that Bobby will go and corrupt you, too. And then where would we be?"
no subject
--stay right where she was and enjoy her date. In other words, keep doing what she was doing.
"Don't worry," she assured him. "I can stand against Bobby and his uncouth influence. Bobby Drake can't corrupt me." Emma Frost had already claimed that honor, for one thing. "With me around, what trouble can you possibly get into?"
no subject
Very long. Very thoughtful.
"Do you really want me to answer that? Can I use point form?"

The waiter appeared at their table, looking for their drink and appetizer orders. "Are we ready?" Karla asked, looking at Warren. "Have we decided what we're getting?"
Besides handing over the menus and saying 'one of each, please.'
no subject
"We wanted variety, right?" He nodded to the waiter, and then asked, "Is there some sort of sampler tray with a bit of each appetizer? We'll get two."
And they could make that into three or four or eight accordingly, if they breezed through those.
"And for the actual meal, I believe we've both agreed on the pineapple curry," a pause, and he looked at Karla for clarification. "Would you like coconut rice with that?"
no subject
She glanced at Warren. "Have you ever had one? Delicious. And perfect on a hot day."
