The Perk, Late Saturday Afternoon

Spending time with an anthropomorphic necklace? Surprisingly not as weird is at it could have been, Kate was finding. Actually, it was like hanging out with an old friend. Or maybe a very patient older brother. Someone who really, really knew her.

It was kind of awesome. (At least when he wasn't making way too observant remarks about her.) And what was more, the necklace had totally charmed the barista at the Perk, and Kate felt like she was one step closer to being served coffee at the place again.

They had a table to themselves by the window, both sitting on the same side so they could lean close towards each other like they were telling secrets. Which, in a sense, they were.

The sound of Kate's laughter was probably loud enough to disturb other patrons, if they were the type to be annoyed by someone else being utterly happy. She didn't care.

[ooc: open place in town is open for all your Kate/necklace/Perk needs!]

It was hot outside. Way too damn hot to do anything but walk through town and duck into the first air conditioned place he could. That being the Perk just meant he could have a drink before going back to the cabins.

"Hey, it's Kate Gregson," he said once he spotted her, "and...friend I don't recognize. Hello, person I don't know."

"Necklace?" Hannibal repeated, raising an eyebrow. "Your parents hippies?"

"Oh! That happened again?" Oh sad, that meant his things from last time hadn't changed. "That happened to me last time, yeah. I mean, not my necklace but yeah, that makes sense now and I don't have to laugh at your name."

"You date a guy called Nobody?" Hannibal asked, content to latch onto that. "He better be damn good looking to pull that off."

"His name's still Nobody," Hannibal teased, flopping into a seat. "I think that even beats Hannibal. Finally, someone with a crappier name than mine!"

It was not that hard to figure out what the necklace had been about to say and Hannibal started laughing. Hard. Poor Kate, having an observant, always there necklace.

"Well, I suppose that's a good thing," he said through his laughter. "Cuts down on the sexual frustration."

"Other places?" Well, that was her necklace's fault for mentioning it. Of course he was going to ask now.

"What, not gonna share with your good friend, Hannibal?" he asked, smirking mightily. "Awww, I thought we were close."

"You been getting close with your necklace, Kate?" Look, Chuck had slept with his porn last time, it wasn't that illogical of a question.

"Hey, don't look at me like that!" Hannibal exclaimed. "People did it last time. Some items came out super hot and all."

[identity profile] decoder-rings.livejournal.com 2010-07-24 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"I didn't say that," he said, shrugging. "Maybe you asked him to join in."

Oh, he so didn't know poor Nobody.

"I just know that there was a lot of sleeping with things last time this happened," Hannibal said, shrugging, "so it wouldn't be too far a leap. Besides, not like I knew how serious you were with your boy."

"Well, she couldn't wait for me forever," he teased, snickering. "I'm glad she's gotten over her want of me."
