Luke's Diner [Tuesday, August 17th]

After missing her shift last week, Sookie thought she should probably try to apologize somehow.

So once she got in, she baked a cherry pie, leaving it in the back with a note reading, Sorry I left y'all alone here last week! - Sookie.

The thoughts she picked up indicated that no one was touching it because they weren't sure if she'd slipped something into it. Sigh. It was just a pie. If you couldn't trust pie, what was left?

Hmm. Sookie was at the diner, and there was ice cream on the specials board?

As if Bobby could pass that up.

"Hey," he called out as he entered the diner. "I'm hoping the prettiest waitress in the place is willing to help me out here?" he asked hopefully.

"I'm not sure she's working today," Sookie replied with a grin. Because she was a dork, yes.

"Oh," Bobby made a disappointed face. "That's too bad. Cause, I mean, I was hoping..."

"What were you hoping?" she asked, looking sad and resting her chin in her hand. "I might be able to help out! Maybe."

"Well, it's just, she's such a great... conversationalist." Bobby was so great at this flirting thing. "And I hear her pie's the best this place has to offer."

"Well, unfortunately, some parties here think that the pie that was made today is a trick," Sookie said, frowning over her shoulder as the guys in the back found a way to make themselves Oh So Busy. "But. We have French toast. And ice cream. And while maybe this mythical prettiest waitress didn't make either of 'em, I did, and I heard maybe you like ice cream a little?"

Sookie was also excellent at flirting.

"Your sources do good work," Bobby nodded approvingly. "Because you heard right."

"You can have pie and ice cream," she said generously. "But only if you tell me the name of this waitress you're looking for."

Bobby tapped his chin thoughtfully. "Well, if I just tell you outright, that's no fun. How about I give you a hint?"

She frowned, also tapping her chin. "I guess that could work. I'm pretty good at deductive reasoning."

"Well," Bobby drawled. "She's blonde, like you are." Which was such an oddcoincidence, wasn't it?

"Waaaait a second." Sookie frowned, her eyes wide. "I think I'm the only blonde waitress who works here!"

"Really?" Bobby's eyes also widened in feigned shock. "Are you sure?"

"Uh huh!" Sookie was shocked. Shocked. "Just me and Lacey and Francine. Well, and the lion guy."

"Huh," Bobby said thoughtfully. "I guess that must mean..." he trailed off, raising an eyebrow at Sookie.

She raised an eyebrow back, trying not to smile and instead, trying to look terribly surprised. "Waaaait. Did you mean me?"

"I miiiiiight have."

"You should've just said," Sookie said, beaming at him before bouncing back to fetch him an ice cream sandwich. And a slice of pie. Because he'd given her a hint to solve the terribly difficult mystery. And because she was a dork. "'Stead of being all coy about it."

"But being coy about it is fun," Bobby pointed out with a grin.

"But it doesn't get you pie or ice cream or a kiss," Sookie pointed out sadly.

"I've got pie and ice cream now," Bobby noted. "No kisses, though..." he added.

"We have the chocolate kind in the back?" Sookie offered.

"...Of pie?" Bobby asked, before his brain caught up with his mouth. "Oh. Oh. You mean- well. I was hoping for a different kind of kisses, actually."

Sookie leaned over to press a very light, very chaste kiss to his temple. "Better?"

Sookie was being a brat, so...probably not.

"Not... quite what I had in mind," Bobby admitted.

"No?" Sookie asked, smiling before leaning in and actually kissing him.

(In a workplace-appropriate, yet hopefully request-satisfying sort of way.)

"Better?"

"Prettiest and the best kisser in the place," Bobby declared with a dopey grin.

"Have you tested that theory?" she asked, amused. "I mean, Francine's got a girlfriend and Lacey's a little old for you...."

"Oh, I don't need to test it!" Bobby said hastily. "I have faith."

"Good. Me too," she assured him with a grin. "I don't feel the need to test my hypothesis that you are not only the cutest boy in the school, but also the best kisser. Though I do think we should continue demonstrating our shared status as best kissers. Together. Often."

Sookie Stackhouse: smoothest ever.

Sookie had no idea how she would ever use that.

I have had three Diet Pepsis already today. WTF self.
