Dite's Decadent Delights, Monday Afternoon

Sleep and food had put Karla into a much better mood than she'd fallen asleep in last night. Overall, the whole trip to Glacia was a success: she'd proven her identity as both alive and their future Queen and had given people hope for the future. Stacked against that, one snarly male them all nearly getting caught could barely compete.

Humming a little, Karla sat behind the counter, making up to-do lists for Zack's party later on and hoping that coming home safely would negate anyone being mad at her for leaving so abruptly.

Hey, a girl could dream, right?

When 'Dite entered the store, she did so by the front door, with a smile. She had a pad of paper under her arm and was . . .

What was this? Could it be . . .? Yes! The goddess of love was . . . humming!

Danger, Will Robinson!

"Thank you, Karla, and hello to y-- Oh! Oh, oh, oh, stay right there! Don't move!"

She zapped a chair into existence and sat, opening her pad and thumbing through to find a clean page. "You move, you're fired." Before she began sketching, she winked. "Just kidding! But don't move!"

"You can talk," in fact, 'Dite had decided Karla had better talk, "but don't move! I'm going to sketch you. Stay right there. Stay!"

Then she went to work with her pencil, squinting up at Karla every few moments and sticking the tip of her tongue in the side of her mouth. Karla could probably hear the scratch of pencil on paper as 'Dite concentrated.

"Eh, it's a hobby I'm trying. I'm better at it than gluing models together, anyway."

She was quiet for long moment. "You're doing great. Stay still."

Another very . . . long . . . moment.

"Oh, Karla?"

'Dite didn't look up. Her voice was very stern.

"Tell me why I had a message yesterday saying you were going to Glacia." Then she looked up. "And don't. Move."

The robot tried to warn you, Will Robinson.

"You had to dispel a rumor. I see." 'Dite was sketching again. "Now tell me you had an army with you. And then tell me why I wasn't there." She looked up, smiling sweetly. "But don't move, or I'll have to start the sketch allllll over again."

It was a subtle torture, wasn't it?

Considering how little people Cloud minded in the island, Karla not being around had been noted. So he had decided to see if she was back to work.

"Hey", called as he entered, the place still giving him the creeps, even if just a little.

Cloud had learned to see beyond appearances, as in 'what is stored on the other side of the store' and he really didn't need to be there twice to remember. Still, the outside was pretty nice, and he was totally not afraid of romance.

Totally.

"Hm? Not really; just checking in." Which didn't have much sense, he noticed. Funny thing, only there Cloud realized he didn't have a job, and the immediate shudder at the idea of being behind a counter was enough of a message to convince him he was well enough with more free time than he really needed.

"Been busy lately?"

Oh, Karla, you made him choke!

And cough a little.

"You, of course", said when he was able to speak again. Although there had been no reason for such reaction, really!

Something about being in that store would always help Cloud be a bit more of a fool. He got over it pretty quickly though.

"Dead", repeated more to himself than to Karla. This would be where he would ask if someone actually wanted her dead back in her world, but he decided the topic was best left untouched. "Hopefully it didn't scalate to something... more complicated?" Because being dead tended to do all sort of things.

Cloud didn't know what he would do if someone started the rumor he was dead. The scary thing was that he might have even let said rumors expand. He supposed that would be a rather lousy input in the conversation. "If the rumors were based on an accident or an event, it shouldn't be too hard to prove you weren't there. But if it's related to your time away from home..." Yeah, that wasn't an impressive collaboration neither. The little she knew of Karla's world seemed to show a world with politics far more complicated than Gaia, and he had enough headaches trying to figure out what when wrong in his own world.

"I'm not of much use for this sort of things, sorry."

Whatever.

"He wants you dead?" Forgive him for being suddenly so naïve. "He's your uncle. Your family." Who would've known Cloud held family in such high regard? "And I'm prying." He shook his head, still trying to decide what to make of the whole thing, maybe he had read it wrongly?
