Stark Industries [Wednesday]

It was William's first day of work, so of course he showed up bright and early, tea and toast in hand. And much like yesterday, he was once again wearing jeans and one of the shirts Ariel had picked out for him. The fact that all the clothing he had arrived with was in desperate need of a wash had helped make that particular decision.

But enough about his fashion choices. William spent the day familiarising himself with, well, at least the locations of various items in the store.

Stark Industries was open! Enthusiastically, if not quite yet knowledgeably so.

"Morning," Ender greeted, turning up at the store early. Not that he figured William would break anything - at least nothing that couldn't be rebuilt - but to take an interest in his employees. "Starting to get the hang of it yet?"

"I'll tell you what everything's for," he said, brushing past William. "Also, if fruit starts appearing out of nowhere - don't worry about it. It's just a trick Fandom likes to play on this particular store. Make sure nothing gets in the machines, and we're good."

"This island thrives on whimsy," was all Ender had to say about that.

Ender smiled at him, and pulled up a chair. "How are you settling in in general?"

"That's a relief," Ender said, a little dryly. "I've been thinking about getting more defense systems installed in the store, just in case. Who knows what's going to attack next."

"Yes," he replied. "Some places in town are already rigged up to start shooting if anything violent comes near. We've got a lot of possibilities at our disposal these days-- I can show you a few schematics. Though 'security systems' aren't really my area."

Shelley's iPod had stopped working. This made morning yoga much too quiet, so she needed to get it fixed. She just hoped this was the right place to get something like that done.

"Oh, hey!" she replied, grateful she didn't have to stand around and wait to be acknowledged. She held up her iPod. "It's broken," she explained. "I tried to replace the batteries but, um, couldn't. I don't know if it uses them."

Shelley wasn't very bright when it came to technology.

"Oh, sure!" She handed it over. "I know it's an older model and all that, but I don't have my music saved on anything else, so it's kind of important that I get it working again, you know?" There was an edge of panic to her voice.

"I mean, it has the perfect playlist for trampoline workouts, and my friend Martin made it for me, and I don't talk to him anymore, so it's basically like not replaceable."

There was a definite look of relief on Shelley's face. "Oh, thank you. I'm so glad you understand. Guys are just so good with electric thingies." She smiled, knowing men liked it when you complimented their know-how.
