The Arms Hotel, Monday, 10/04

Quinn had been happy, in the end, to see her mom and Finn. She was also happy they'd made it off the island without having to fight their way through a swarm of bloodsucking hummingbirds, or whatever the island would come up with. And her mom had taken her shopping off the island yesterday, which meant she had some new cute cardigans. Win-win.

Today, she was making sure all the rooms that had been in use over the weekend were nice, spotless, and without any lingering guests who had overstayed their welcome.

Welcome to the Arms Hotel!

It had been a long weekend, and Mary looked noticeably worn out as she stopped by the front desk.

"Are they all finally gone?" she asked.

"I don't think I've done this much crisis management since my hotel in Vegas had Groundhog Summer ending the same weekend as a sci-fi convention," said Mary. "Can you believe that Gunther tried to cook one of the guests?"

"It wasn't a person, it was a talking crab that made a reservation for the weekend," said Mary. "There was also a pig and a frog staying on a different floor, so I warned Gunther not to cook any pork or frog legs. But I went to grab something from the kitchen on Saturday, and there was Gunther, chasing the crab with his rolling pin! The crab got away, but I had to comp his entire stay."

"This crab happened to be the royal court composer for some place called Atlantica. I guess the beach just wasn't good enough," said Mary. "I probably should have asked more questions, but I was a little freaked out at the time."

"Well, the next time it happens, I'll be prepared," said Mary. "Actually, I wonder I should buy some fish tanks before the next time an aquatic guest checks in. You never know around this place."

"Oooh, that would be easier and cost-efficient. I like the way you think," said Mary, grinning. "I'll have to take a look at see what options are available."

Yes, because the regular guests were so much better than the ones that just left.

Really.

Sherlock snapped and pointed in the most polite manner he could manage. "Phone."

Sherlock almost considered that. "No, I don't need a landline. I know you have a mobile."

What teenage girl dressed like that wouldn't?

"I am a guest here and I believe you're supposed to accommodate me," Sherlock pointed out.

"Because my number might be recognized." Really, Quinn. Really.

That wasn't odd at all.

Sherlock just gave her a confused look. "If I was stalking someone, I don't think calling them would be the best option."

Duh.

"That would just alarm them and make studying them harder."

Well, it was either going to be distressingly pink or covered in rhinestones.

"I'll just switch them my my neighbor's," Sherlock replied, typing in a message before hitting send and handing it back.

Poor, poor John was going to never get clean sheets.
