Luke's Diner, October 11 (Monday)

Regardless of the ghost-town-like feel of the town over a break week, the diner must be opened, and opened it was today, with Lacey taking advantage of the quiet time to recover from her weekend's Thanksgiving trip back to Dog River.

Recover from the muscle strain of laughing at Oscar Leroy and Davis Quinton stuck like treed cats on a roof they were trying to repair, granted, but recover nonetheless -- while planning out holiday decor for the diner (maybe she could hang Christmas lights on the plants in the wall planters!), negotiating with the cream soda stock, and fielding repeated bratty reminders from the staff that Thanksgiving here hadn't happened yet.

She knew that, thank you very much.

Today's Specials
Brisket Braised in Porter
Vegetarian Shepherd's Pie
Turkey Chili

She'd actually gone through several turkey chili recipes on an online forum -- discarding a particularly horrifying one submitted by a woman in Mercy, Saskatchewan that involved a digestive-tract-melting amount of Scotch peppers -- before deciding on the one she'd gone with. Just for the record.

Luke's is open, and still feeling rather Thanksgiving-y today.

[OOC: OCD tried Sarah Hamoudi's turkey chili recipe and will be trying to get the chili taste out of its mouth for the rest of the day.

. . . I couldn't resist a gratuitous Little Mosque on the Prairie reference. JUST FOR YOU, [livejournal.com profile] shagthis. JUST FOR YOU.]
