... He was not holding rehearsal today.

Genesis was no fool and had realized that most of his actors were gone for the week and thus it would be pointless to hold it.

For a few minutes, though, he’d considered having rehearsal anyway and then scolding them all for their lack of dedication next week. ... Lucky for them he decided against that. Reluctantly.

(It would have been funny, as far as he was concerned.)

Today, Genesis had propped the door of the theatre open and himself was sitting in a chair, reading. It had seemed wrong to not be available if there was anyone around who might wish to rehearse.

Or perhaps he’d just wanted to get some fresh air into the place. With Genesis, it was hard to tell which was more likely.

Max's last trip by the Boards had been interesting. He figured he might as well see if another would be, too.

"Are you planning to lurk there for hours?" Genesis asked, pausing mid-way down a page.

Max chuckled. "I'm a bit big for lurking, don't you think?"

"Size matters little where skill is concerned," he replied, smiling slightly. "Or do you disagree?"

"Well, if you're going to put me on the spot like that, I suppose you have a point."

"Still, if I'm no lurking, I suppose that leaves me with socializing, huh?"

"Truly a tragedy," he mused. "Drawn from the shadows into the light."

"So true." Max nodded slowly, almost sagely. "Still, what's done is done, so we might as well make the best of it." He smirked. "Got anything to drink around here?"

"Juice and water," he said, with a tilt of his head at the small fridge. "Anything stronger is not kept down here."

Max glanced at the fridge, then sighed. "Then how do you celebrate a good show?" Or whatever it was you celebrated.

"I'll take them to Caritas," he said, smirking slightly. "But I'll not have drinking happening down in the theatre while they are supposed to rehearse."

Except for the booze that Jack tended to bring in, sigh.

... If there's anyone on island who'd care to, sure!

Triela showed up for rehearsal. She wasn't away, and there were responsibilities... Right?

"Finished sulking, are you?" he said, casting her a glance before closing his book.

"I don't sulk," Triela snapped.

Uh huh.

"Then explain your reasoning for not showing up last week," he replied silkily.

Oh yes, he would enjoy this. She was so fun to rile up.

"I don't have to explain myself to you," Triela scowled.

She had been... busy. Not sulking. Just... doing things. That weren't sulking.

Sulking. Absolutely.

Ugh. Teenaged girls.

"Would you treat all your teachers this way?" Genesis inquired, setting his book down neatly.

"You're not my teacher." Well, sort of not. This was voluntary, after all. She could quit anytime. If her ego would let her quit, that was.

[OH CRAP! YOU'RE ONTO ME!]

His lips twitched: that amused him.

"What purpose do you think a director serves?"

[OMIGOD HDU!!!]

"If you're a typical example?" Triela began, quirking an eyebrow. "Amusing yourself at everyone else's expense." Because Triela never did that.

Just like she didn't sulk.

"And your experience with my directing is... not liking the part I picked for you?"

Because, really, someone had had to be Smelly.
