Having forgotten to visit Karla, Cloud had paid close attention to the days in order to at least pass by the next Monday.

Bad move, Cloud.

"Hey Kaaah?-" He had listened to the radio, even.

"Karla....?"

"You are not a female!"

In case Cloud had missed that part or something.

That was Karla for 'hello' today.

"No, I'm not." It was good other people could notice, really. "I would have killed someone if I woken up...like that." Not really, but he would have been close.

"Do you want me to...leave?" Emotional magic wielder guy that was actually a girl; Cloud could pretty much taste the danger of sticking around if Karla -Karlos? Don't laugh, Cloud- decided to go ballistic.

"Are you going to preach at me if I decide to start drinking in the middle of the afternoon?" Karla demanded, eying him. "Or, Darkness forbid, ask me how I'm feeling?!"

She was a male for the second day in a row. It should be bloody freaking obvious how she was feeling!

He almost, almost asked, but then realized there were less painful ways to die.

"I don't preach. At best I would ask you to share- and probably close the store or something. Or wait until you leave, if you can." He was more or less sure Karla shouldn't, but hey, he was no authority figure to say so.

"The store is run by a goddess that doesn't actually care about money--" or, if she did, Karla had never seen evidence of it "--and we had that chat about metabolisms, right? Besides," Karla snorted, "what kind of danger am I going to get into here? Ring up someone's order wrong? I'm not exactly interested in playing with any of the heavy machinery Dite's got in the back room."

Not that she had anything to drink right now. But that could change!

Cloud shrugged, in the way he did when it was clear he didn't have anything to add to it. "'Dite seems to keep the store out of...a sense of duty, I guess." That or she was royally bored. Or both, probably.

"Do you even have something to drink, anyway?" Bad karla, getting him al excited about drinking in the middle of the day in a store just to find out there was nothing to drink.

"I think it gives her something to do," Karla said, glancing around. "Don't get me wrong, she believes that sex, love, and romance are all very important, especially on an island of teenagers. And she's glad to be a source of support and education for that. But also, it keeps her entertained and occupied. I'm pretty sure profit is a distant third if at all."

Oh, nice Cloud. Point out the flaws in her plan.

"Not yet," she muttered. "But I could get some." She had a lunch break! Caritas was in walking distance!

"Well, I believe that sex, love, and romance are all very important...maybe not in that order, but yeah, important." Now that they had cleared out 'Dite's business goals in Fandom, Cloud decided he could use another chat with her.

He was such a considerate man, wasn't he?

Now that was an idea. "Okay, then. Get some." And after a second. "Some booze, drinks, alcohol." Yeah, he would be looking somewhere else right now.

Karla had to snicker at that. "Sooooooo not happening," she muttered. "Even if I were in my right body, that so wouldn't happen." She gestured around the displays. "I think 'Dite was feeling ironic the day she hired a virgin to work in the sex store."

"I don't think she didn't think of you as 'just a virgin'." He actually manage to stop looking around and focus again on the at least not completely infuriated boy. "Sex, love, and romance probably have a completely different meaning to you that most people won't understand, so I think it's a suitable job." He nodded at that, content with coming with a completely rational explanation.

That was kind of endearing; she gave Cloud a crooked smile. "I'm pretty sure everything has a different meaning for me, but I see your point. And I'd probably cry if I got the feeling 'Dite thought of me as 'just' anything."

Cloud could be perfectly endearing, as long as he didn't consciously tried to, of course. Then it just got weird. "It does now? Maybe." He doubted they could be having that very conversation -which ranked high on his list of really odd ones- if they didn't share at least a couple of subjects meanings. "It's settled then", said as he pointed outside. "Unless it's too early for you to take your break?"

Karla glanced around to the otherwise empty shop. "Nope," she said, reaching up to flick off the lights. "Now's just about right."

After examining the selection and coming to no clear conclusions, Roy came over to ask Karla, "Hey, Karla, what do you know about vibrators?"

What? He might as well take it for a test drive while he had it! He might learn something!

Not that Karla had thought of that. Really. Just like she wasn't blushing, either.

"So, wait, you have one but you've never used it?" Why would you do that to yourself? "Yeah, that sounds cool, though."

"I'm...saving it," she muttered, just loud enough to be heard. "For a special occasion."

Glancing around the shelves, she spotted it. "Here it is! ~~NSFW link~~" she said, grabbing the box and tossing it Roy's way. "Waterproof and you can just use the little bullet-thingy or the whole butterfly. And the butterfly is hands free and fits under your clothing, so you can wear it whenever, wherever."

Roy was confused. She needed a special occasion to get off? Girls could be so weird. This thing was seriously girly, but it looked like it would get the job done, so, "Yeah, that's really not my kink, but I'll take it."

Don't worry, Roy. It was mostly just Karla that was weird.

"If you're planning to experiment, you could always go all out," Karla said wryly. "Maybe it is and you just don't know it yet."

"I far prefer having everything neatly tucked away and not trying to rise us and wave every time a stiff breeze--" no pun intended, honestly "--comes along," Karla grumbled. "And breasts. I might not have much, but I miss mine anyway."

Raven teleported into the store. That was still working, at least.

"Karla, I am still a boy!" she wailed.

"I know!" Karla wailed back, trying not to fidget on the stool. How did males do it? "I am, too! It isn't fair!"

"I had hoped it was just me and not you as well," Raven murmured unhappily. "But it seems everyone who has changed is still unable to resume their true form." And she still didn't have pants. Or underwear that fit.

"Do you know how many people I told that they'd wake up just fine in their old bodies?" Karla groaned, lowering her forehead to the counter and gently banging it a few times. "I just laid in bed and cried this morning."

She had. Big baby.

Raven moved around the counter to wrap her arms around Karla and give her a comforting hug, and to stop her from banging her head. "As did I," she murmured. "But this cannot be permanent. Fandom would not do that to us." She hoped.

"No," Karla said, neglecting to mention she'd been too busy pouting to be productive today. "There's nothing useful here."

Useful as in 'magically able to turn her back into a female.'

"There are undergarments here, at least?" Raven said helpfully. "I have nothing." Um. "Appropriate."

"I don't know if you'll find appropriate undergarments here, darling," Karla said, glancing upstairs towards the clothing. "I think everything here is kind of...novelty?"

From what she remembered from folding and pricing, most of what 'Dite had was wildly inappropriate.

And animals. There were lots and lots of animals.

"You are right," Raven sighed, making a face at the thought of what was in stock. There was no way she was going to wear something like that. "I shall have to just be uncomfortable and 'deal with it' as they say."

"We can always take a trip out to Pixie Dust?" Karla suggested. "It's not like this won't happen again."
