The potted herbs from the other day were gone. Mary wasn't sure how Gunther had managed to get rid of them, but she was glad to have the extra space to work at the front desk. As long as he managed to stay busy and out of her way, she was willing to overlook some of his wacky behavior.

Who is checking her desk drawers to make sure there's no herbs tucked away there. Yeah, that kind of thing happens.

She had worked here once. It seemed like a long time ago. "Hello, Mary," River said, leaning against the desk.

"River! It's been way too long since I've seen you," said Mary, smiling. "How have you been?"

"Good." She didn't elaborate.

"The hotel still stands."

"No thanks to Gunther. He did manage to run off one of the sous chefs, though," said Mary. "I'm sure he would be happy to see you. I think he misses having extra help in the kitchen."

"You think so?" River smiled a little.

"I'm sure of it. He drives me crazy when he's feeling lonely," said Mary, smiling in return.

"Perhaps I can assist him while I'm here." Now that smile was more like a grin.

"Gunther would love that," said Mary. "And I remember you really enjoyed cooking."

"I did." She remembered that too. Then again, she had changed.

It's a big hotel with plenty of room for mingling with people in the lobby or running into people in the hallways.

Ahh, I see that comments are taking a while to post today. Just in time for Homecoming, right?
