Fast Eddies, Monday after classes

Bruce got to Fast Eddies a little early to get a good feel for the pool tables. Was that cheating when he was going to play somebody who hadn't played much before? Of course not. It was good strategy, plain and simple.

But he also wanted to make sure that there was a good amount of noise in the place to cover the sound of any 'sensitive' subjects that might come up. It was the price of having a relatively normal conversation between two nosy but secretive people.

[OOC: Bruce is here for Ino, but Fast Eddies is open for all of your bowling or pool needs.]

Totally cheating.

If she hadn't promised to talk a bit, and if he hadn't promised to talk a bit, Ino would've returned the favour and inflicted what Professor Devereaux was calling 'Fluffy' upon Bruce for the evening, just to see his reaction."

As it was, she slipped in exactly on time and exactly herself and paused for a moment to consider the venue.

She was... probably going to lose miserably, but it was loud enough that it wouldn't be a total loss.

"Yo," she said, slipping up to stand beside him nonchalantly. "Been waitin' long?"

"I like getting to places early too," she said, wrinkling her nose as she took in the table. "But it's a little harder when you're workin' right before meetin' up with someone."
intraspective: (just a girl)

She stuck her tongue out at him.

"A while ago," Ino chirped. "Wanna give me a refresher?"

That she didn't, entirely, need but shhh.
intraspective: (listen to meeee)

"You ever thought 'bout teaching?" she asked, eyes bright and head reeling a bit.
intraspective: (pretty armband)

"In my world," she offered, "once we're considered to know the basics, we're put on teams and taught in groups of threes."

Which hurt to think of, in a way, and yet--a reminder.
intraspective: (innocent really)

"Depends on the team," she said, with a bit of a shrug. "On the teacher. On the students too--it's where we start finding our niche areas to work with in greater depth while keepin' a solid 'mount of work being done on the general areas."
intraspective: (cute smile in b&w)

"Combination of both," she said, twirling a bit of hair around one finger. "Never more than three groups of nine graduation at the same time and everyone of a certain level of expertise takes their turn with a team."
intraspective: (innocent really)

"Can't you make a few guesses?" Ino asked, watching him carefully. Mostly because she wanted to pay attention to the game.

Yeah, Ino didn't believe that herself.
intraspective: (oh hi!)

"Why not?" she said, taking her time to pick a cue that felt right to her and chalking it carefully. "Your schools much like mine sound? Or more like here?"

As she carefully took sight and aim and--there. Game started.

Not a bad shot, though nothing spectacular either.

"What sort of martial art did the dojo teach?" she asked curiously. "It's mostly kept separate in worlds like this, huh?"
intraspective: (oh neat!)

[personal profile] intraspective 2010-10-26 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Now that I wouldn't know," she said easily. "That sort of thing is ingrained in our culture back home--we're fairly close to how the Japanese here are in a lot of ways."
intraspective: (trying not to laugh)

[personal profile] intraspective 2010-10-26 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
"I can hold my own," she said lightly. "Though I can't say how closely it compares to this world's styles."
intraspective: (crossed arms)

She lifted her shoulders in a shrug.

"Fightin' straight on ain't my strongest point," she said slowly, "but I'm more than capable of defendin' myself long enough to either turn the situation into somethin' that uses my specialties or getting away."

There were many many ways to 'win' in her head after all. Getting away from someone trying to kill you totally counted.
intraspective: (is this the face of a liar?)

Ino glanced at him, amused.

"Looking at me," she said, "what would you say I'm most suited for?"
intraspective: (stare)

[personal profile] intraspective 2010-10-26 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh," Ino said lightly, "I don't know if I'm as good as all that. What's your specialty?"
intraspective: (firelit)

[personal profile] intraspective 2010-10-26 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
She eyed him.

"Can't have much of a social life in that case," she noted, not entirely certain she believed it, but adding it to her mental folder about him anyway.

She wrinkled her nose a bit. "Think anyone with lots on their plate has almost got to be, no?"

[I need to crash for the night zomg. SP is shiny?]
intraspective: (grin in mostly b&w)

[personal profile] intraspective 2010-10-26 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
"Or they'll snap and have a breakdown of some sort," she said, making a face at that. "Fun times."

Only really really not.

[Thanks for the heads up! That's totally fine with me! Night!]

"But to know your limits," she countered impishly, "you've first got to find them."
