Sookie was still somewhat lethargic and wary of herself, after the ordeal in Agio. So when she meandered into work, her goal was both ease, and comfort.

Plus, you know, salad was always a smart plan, these days, what with the...planters.

Jake was in the mood for a burger and what other place on the island should anyone go to get a burger? Exactly.

That did mean he wanted something else beside a salad, though. Really, werewolves weren't big on salads. The cake he'd consider.

"Hey, Sookie," he greeted as he picked out a table.

"Hey!" Sookie said, peering out from the back before hurrying over to his table with a small smile. "Haven't seen you in awhile!"

"No, or we might have and just didn't know it," Jake pointed out. "I think the island's been going through some moodswings lately."

"No kidding," she sighed, jutting out a hip. "I haven't gotten stuck as a kangaroo again, yet -- cross your fingers -- but bein' a boy for two days was...memorable."

"Yeah, I don't think I'll be forgetting that any time soon," Jake agreed, and not just because no one in the pack was going to ever let it go. "But there's worse things to happen, right?"

"Depends on who you ask," she said, thinking about Bobby. "Bet you made a pretty girl, though," she added with a grin.

Jake made a face. "I looked like someone annoying I know, so it's kind of hard to give an opinion. It mostly made me want to punch myself so..."

Sookie had to giggle. "I looked like my brother, but with a wider face. So I can kinda understand. But maybe the island's done for a bit, between that and the Halloween stuff?"

"Maybe, but I think that's kind of jinxing it," he said. "There's still Thanksgiving coming and I don't want to think about what could happen to the turkey."

"And now I'm scared for Thanksgiving," Sookie sighed. "Hey, though, maybe something nice'll happen for once!"

"Maybe," he nodded. "They'll probably try to prove me wrong so it's all cool. You can thank me after."
