The Perk; Late Sunday Morning [ 11/27 ].

It was amazing, Angua thought, how one long weekend back in Ankh-Morpork could make a person really appreciate returning to a place where coffee tasted like actual coffee and not mud.

Needless to say, the coffee shop was one of the first places Angua hit up once she got back from her trip which, at least this time, actually went according to plan. As she stirred in a little bit of cream and glanced out the window by her table out at the quiet streets of the village, she wondered if she was getting faintly spoiled and a little too content in this place, which was just ironic and stupid, because didn't she come here because she was feeling faintly spoiled and a little too content there?

She supposed, in a way, it was a good thing she felt this way, because she could reason with herself that it was just proof that she wasn't getting comfortable with the idea of just settling in like a good dog.

It was after dropping off Nicky at the Community Center daycare that Cally stopped by The Perk. After purchasing a coffee, she noticed one of her tenants and walked over.

"Nice to see you, Sergeant."

"I was actually gone myself," Cally admitted. "Spent Thanksgiving with some old friends from school, here. If anything exciting happened on the island, I missed it."

"Ugh, paperwork," Cally said. "I've had so much extra of that, lately. My old boss apparently isn't in the owner of the building anymore, and the paperwork has gotten so much worse."

"I'm grateful for the long-termers," Cally said. "Though the last new one was Jessica. Have you met her, yet?"

She totally had no idea about any possible... conflict there could be between Jessica and Angua.

"Me neither, usually," Cally said. "Sort of juggling two full time jobs takes a lot out of my social time. I've been thinking of get-togethers for the tenants. Like... book clubs or just even some mixer parties. Does that sound like anything you'd be interested in?"

Cally'd hit her head plenty of times. Even been shot into space without any protection whatsoever.

"So I'll take that as a tentative encouragement to actually do it," Cally decided. "I'll have to ask some of the other tenants, get a better idea of the interest. But I'd sure be happy to have you there, if anything does happen."

"I'll let you know," Cally said. "I'll probably end up doing something for the holiday. Even if Christmas gives me the heebie-jeebies."

Because it was forever linked with a certain spy principal.

"It's not really my normal holiday," Cally admitted. "But one I learned. It's a pretty nice one, as long as no one ruins it for you. Which hopefully I won't."

"Maybe," Cally said. "I guess we'll all see later. But I need to get back to some of that aforementioned paperwork. You have a good day, Sergeant."

Tim was sporting a fading bruise and limping just slightly this morning upon his return to Fandom. This was because he had several "nieces" and "nephews" who liked to roughhouse and had not yet quite realized they weren't as small as they used to be.

Also that juggling billiard balls was trickier than they thought.

Still, it had been a good Thanksgiving holiday and now he was eager to try that eggnog latte he saw up there on the menu.

"Mmmmm, eggnog. Wait, chocolate eggnog? Are you the devil?"

[identity profile] grand-fallguy.livejournal.com 2010-11-28 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"A good way." Tim said, turning. He'd said it before he'd even spotted who had spoken. Then he saw Angua and repeated; "A good way, cause of the temptation and..." He turned to the barrista. "You got that right?"

The barrista considered whether or not to mess with him and decided to be nice, nodding.

"I think it's not so much the chocolate in itself. But the unhealthiness of it." Which didn't bother Tim in the slightest. "But yeah even still on the scale of evil, it's pretty damn low."

And he'd been to hell.

"The people that worry me are the ones who don't say things like that in a joking manner."
