The Boards, Wednesday

After having irritated someone who dearly deserved it and a surprising but quite satisfactory game with someone else, was it any wonder that Genesis was in an absolutely fabulous mood? His mood was so good, in fact, that not even the fact the costumes were not ready yet could dent it.

Dearest minions, that did not bode well for you. He had an idea, you see.

Tacked up by the refreshments was a list of roles in the play and the actor assigned to play that role. Only, today, those roles who was acting had been very deliberately switched around.

Cast List for SNOW WHITE

The Queen = Jack Sparrow
Snow White = Elphaba Thropp
Prince Charming = Sara Stanley
Hunter = Triela
Magic Mirror = Ariel
Trekky = Karla
Dummy = Warren Worthington III
Smelly = Rinoa Heartilly
Bossy = Christian

“As everyone here knows their lines,” Genesis said, with a smile. Because they had better know their lines by now. “I thought we’d do something different today. We’re doing a full run-through of the play—in roles that you have not been practising. This is in order for you all to more deeply appreciate the work your castmates are doing within the confines of their roles,” walk a mile in their shoes, “as well stretch your own understanding of the nuances of the play.”

That was his story anyway. He was quite good at justifying himself.

But truly, it was because Genesis thought it would be amusing and entertaining himself sounded just perfectly lovely today. Poor, poor minions.

[Wait for the OCD is up!]

Warren Worthington III, who wishes he was as confident as all of those other Warren Worthington IIIs out there.

Elphaba Thropp, who deep down wishes she wasn't born green.

... Dummy?

Really, Warren could only imagine what had been going through Genesis' head when he assigned him this role for he day. Was he trying to tell him something?

He sighed, and made a reach for his script. Okay, fine. He'd be the best darn Dummy the world had ever seen. Next to maybe Jack.

"Did you pay attention to the dwarf bits before?" Christian admitted softly and in a worried voice. "I read them through, but not enough to play one."

Elphaba looked at the cast list, over to the director, and back.

She could have reacted poorly, stating that he was playing a cruel joke.

But instead, she just smirked and decided she'd be the best rudding Snow White she could be.

Jack had a Very Important Question about his new part:

"Do I get to wear a crown?"

Karla was here! She was very proud of that accomplishment. Here and...playing Trekky? What, what? But rehearsal...

Not that she'd be mentioning that aloud, since there was a very obvious retort to any protest that she made. So instead she shut up, grabbed her script, and started leafing through to find Trekky's lines.

Upon discovering her role for the day, Sara let out a laugh of pure delight. Some might think it a bit absurd, casting a girl with her considerable lack of looks in a role like Prince Charming, of all things, even if it was only for the day, but she relished the idea of the challenge.

It meant paying more attention to parts of the script she hadn't studied as well, but that was just fine with her; it wasn't as if she hadn't pored over every page multiple times as it was -- her well-worn copy of the script testified to that perfectly well.

Rinoa fully planned to stand here, haughty and hating everything.

Not because she no longer had a lead -- that gave her more time to watch everyone else, which was actually pretty fun. Or even her being a dwarf, since the dwarves had some really good lines.

No. It was because she had ended up with the name, Smelly.

The spoiled princess was going to have to sulk about that one.

(Well, this will be interesting.)

Squall nommed on treats and settled in to watch the chaos. Besides, any night that didn't have Rinoa and Christian all over each other was a good one.

Ariel definitely couldn't complain about her recasting, even if she was a little worried that she had no idea what the lines would be. Good thing she still had her script in her bag...

Re: Rehearsal

Jack, for all of his napping during rehearsal, had a pretty instinctive grasp of the dramatic, and pranced out onto the stage like he owned the place. With a crown perched a bit askew on his head (he wouldn't dream of taking off his scarf), he arched an eyebrow at the mirror and demanded, "Mirror, Miror on the Wall, who's the fairest of them all?"

The mirror would have to look past all of the grime to see the Johnny Depp potential fairness underneath.

The mirror was trying her very hardest not to laugh.

"What?" she still managed to ask, with, only a few peeks toward what she'd written on her hand to help her out. "Are you back again? You come to me twice or three times a day and ask me that same question. What is the deal here?"

Claudia was totally finishing things up.

. . . Okay, so technically she was trying to rewire the patch board. But that was a finishing thing, okay?

She promised it would be in one piece again in time for full dress rehearsals.

The flats (and sheets) were all hung now; ready to go up, down, and sideways with scene changes, with various areas left free for the explosions.

Sophie was just putting the last touches of shiny paint on the night scenes.

Nope, Squall was out in the audience.

If the rest of the crew needed him for anything, they could come get him.

Oh, Momoko was so totally glad she'd skipped out on rearranged her study schedule and come to see Mr Rhapsodos' play rehearsal. Not only was it hilarious to see her friends playing the wrong parts, but she got to see the beautiful Mr Rhapsodos in such a good mood.

Ahhhh. Totally worth an extra hour of studying after dinner. She sat in the back, giggling madly.
