So what if he had radio tonight. Deadpool was gonna enjoy the snowing of odd Dutch pastries while having a cup of coffee.

"Jan, don't put that in your mouth, it was on the ground." Plus he was being all kinds of responsible. Responsible. "Catch it in your hat, then you can eat it."

...still responsible-ish.

Look, people should expect this when they placed him in charge of the safety and care of children. And just be glad he wasn't encouraging her to make sad eyes at the barrista to get him free coffee.

Jaina had some free time to kill between training and work, and she'd decided to do so with coffee. Preferably something with chocolate and peppermint, because that was how she rolled. And as she was coming back from the counter with her drink and caught Deadpool with Jan, she had to wonder, "How'd you find out that was edible?"

Deadpool shot her a look over his coffee. "Have you ever hadta handle a three year old? Those books say nothing about the pathological need to put random things they find on the ground into their mouths."

A beat.

"I'm just glad it wasn't a rock or gum."

"Nuts nuts nuts!" Jan sang from beneath the table. Because that was what you did, apparently.

"Yeah, but I had to worry less about him putting things in his mouth and more about him putting dirt in his shoes," she said, shrugging a bit. "What is that stuff, anyway?"

"I dunno," Deadpool replied with a shrug. "They taste like anise, though. And I'm almost sure I should be wearing wooden clogs while eatin' them but I can't figure out why."

Curse this 4th wall breakage!

Cue Jaina looking confused, as sometimes she was still really new here. "...Wooden clogs? Really? That just sounds painful."

Oh, she'd get used to it. Or just learn to ignore those things.

"Well, I'm not about to stick my finger in a dike!"

A beat.

"That sounded less wrong in my head."

Jaina raised her eyebrows, as yeah, that sounded really wrong. "I think this conversation derailed early this time. It has to be a new record."

"Clearly we haven't talked enough."

"Clearly. Though I'm almost afraid of what would happen if we did," she admitted. "I think it'd be scarier."

"Anakin would frown at me," Deadpool admitted. "But I'm hittin' on ya, so he won't punch me."

She couldn't not look amused at that. "Did you just say he wouldn't punch you for hitting on me?"

"I'm pretty sure there was supposed to be a 'not' in there, but someone was typing too fast."

Take that as you will, Jaina.

"That both makes me feel better and gives me all sorts of new questions," she admitted. Figure out which ones. Hint, they all have to do with typing.

"I'mma let you in on a secret," Deadpool said, leaning closer. "There's this chick, you see. At a laptop. She controls all our lives. She's. There are a lot of 'em. And a few dudes, but they don't count in this situation."

Uh huh. "Is there any alcohol in your coffee?" she wondered.

He peered down at it for a moment. "Lil' bit."

"Okay, I like that better than the thought that some girl is actually controlling what I say and do. It makes me happier." Because said girl would have to hate her or something.

And we can't have that!

...even if Deadpool kinda hated his. DUETS WITH ANAKIN. REALLY? REALLY?

"It could be worse," he pointed out. "Could be canon. That extended universe makes baby George Lucas cry, man."

Jaina hated so much that this made her curious as to what he was talking about. "What's an extended universe? Are we talking about the Unknown Regions?"

"Sure, why not!"

"And what about this George Lucas guy?" It was so wrong she wanted to hear the ramblings of a crazy person.

Heeeey. He was only mildly cracked. Kinda.

"He's like Stan Lee. Or Bendis. Goddamn you, Bendis."

"I have no idea who these people are," she admitted.

"It's okay, no one ever does," Deadpool replied with a sigh. "So. What's up less than wee Skywalker spawn?"

"Less than wee?" she repeated, rolling her eyes. "Not much. Training, work, coffee in between. I live a boring life here. What about you?"
