The Preserve, Monday Evening
A labyrinth growing in the island, little creepers running around, people getting kidnapped. Cloud was half sorry he hadn't stayed a little longer on Midgar, so he could have just blissfully missed the current mess. But anyway, there was no point on complaining now, right? Fusion Swords on his back, he walked slowly on the Preserve, paying attention to every sound around him. It was a dangerous place in a dangerous time, so it was pretty obvious what he was looking for. Trouble, he was looking for a little bit of trouble. If everyone else was having their share of awkwardness, he deserved some fun. Besides, he had took his time to bring some Materia too.
Too bad he didn't know it wouldn't work when the time came, but then again, he was willing to be surprised.
[For the little pests!]

Blame Stu for not giving them better instructions.
Right now, they were trying to sneak up on the blonde kid with the weird hair. And then, one of the shadows plowed right into another, making a sound vaguely like pots and pans thunking together.
"Soooo-rry," sang out one shadow.
Stealth: not really their forte.

"Is...everyone okay?" Leave it to him to wonder if they hadn't gotten hurt before he could hurt them.

"I didn't mean to," said another voice. The same slow and -- let's be honest -- derpy voice that had apologized a minute ago.
"Shhhhh!" hissed a third. The crowd of shadows all straightened itself up and quieted down. "We're all fine, yes. You didn't hear anything. So you should just keep walking now."
This might have succeeded at sounding vaguely ominous, if it weren't for the derpy goblin chiming in again. "I think he did hear us."
Which earned him another "Shhhh!!!"

Nothing happened. Just a faint glow came off the stone, which was somewhat apologetic, if possible. So magic wasn't working? "Okay then", said slowly as he turned around. "Since I didn't hear anything...I'm going to keep walking, exposing my back to surprise attacks." Emphasis on surprise, of course. He couldn't believe he was doing that but apparently it might even work.

Another "Shhhhh!" from the thoroughly exasperated goblin who seemed to be the only competent member of the crew. (Which was really using 'competent' loosely.)
"He wants us to attack him," explained another goblin. "He's pretending not to look."
"Let's throw rocks at him," Derpy suggested.
"We can't now," said Semi-Competent. "You gave away the surprise!"

Derpy, of course, chose that moment to pick up a rock and throw it at Cloud. He so rarely had good ideas! He had to run with them, when he did!
Of course, once he started, a few other goblins decided to join in. So now there were some rocks, being hurled ... near Cloud. Some of them might even hit him.
Their aim was about as good as their stealth.

Without wasting any more time, Cloud made a short run towards the Derpy one, and because of the length of the sword, Cloud had the chance to made an ample attack at the goblin and whoever other critters that were close enough to him; he was using the flat aside, aware that the island was enough of a mess for him to be cutting goblins in half.

Not all of them, however. The few who hadn't been smacked with the fusion sword were now attempting to counterattack. One was running up to jump up and down on Cloud's left foot. Another leaped up, hoping to hang from Cloud's elbow and kick wildly at his torso. Another was doing his best to climb onto Cloud's back, so he could thump that spiky hair with his club.
The goblins weren't very good fighters, one-on-one. Which was why they took the mob approach. You could only ward off so many at once.

Three on one? He wasn't going to complain. "You obviously don't know who you are dealing with." Cloud had been quiet and pretty passive for most of his stay on Fandom, but behind that calm was still the guy that had pretty much broken Gaia -with good intentions, of course. The gobling on his foot would find himself suddenly kicked up, and then kicked away like a particularly noisy soccer ball. He managed to get a hold of the one on his back, at the moment ignoring the kicks on his chest, and leaped backwards, just in case more of the little buggers came towards him. Removing the goblin from his back, he threw him away, aiming for the possibly attackers trying to sneak on him.
That left one goblin on him. With a careful movement, Cloud swatted it like a fly with the flat side of his sword and left him slip down. "Okay then", said as he separated one sword from the main body -the one that looked like a Buster Sword, yet it had a serrated side- and charged at the group, swords extended on his sides. He was probably enjoying it a little more than he should.
