The Park, Saturday Evening -- [Snow White]

By early afternoon, there were signs up around town that stated:

SNOW WHITE WILL BE PERFORMED IN THE PARK AT SEVEN P.M. TONIGHT

Do not eat my theatre. I will find you and destroy you should the attempt be made.

It was amazing, truly, what could be accomplished in a number of hours when you had both money and the ability to contact hordes of NPCs people who were all willing to leap for the chance to work for overtime.

Which meant that, in relatively short order, there was a rather sturdy but entirely not permanent, stage in the park and Genesis was surveying it critically. He’d surely hear from Miss Donovan about the electrical capabilities—which were rudimentary, bur present, though he suspected getting the correct lighting would be more difficult, but he rather thought that Kūkaku would be pleased (or possibly annoyed at him for the short notice) as he’d left a note on the supplies she use, that had been transported, by himself even (he was not going to expect his minions, even hired minions, to carry things that were meant to explode) .

The note was quite simple:

Due to the change in venue, your constraints are lifted. No maiming the audience or students—otherwise, do what you wish.

Seats had been arranged for, set out in neat, painstaking rows (not as comfortable as The Boards’ lush seating, but as lawn chairs went—quite comfortable), with a blanket draped over each seat to keep the person sitting there warm, and he’d arranged with The Perk for a booth to be there for hot chocolate, coffee, and pastries: all free of charge.

(Well, he was paying for it, but his audience would not be.)

Genesis had felt that was a fair price to pay for the inconvenience of the change of location. He checked his list once more—yes, he’d handwavily contacted his actors, actresses, and crew and told them of the change of venue, seating, lighting, sound, props…

He’d done what he could, truly, but that did not change the fact that this performance was happening outside, in December, and that was… less than optimal.

Nonetheless. The show would continue as planned and if Genesis was a little crankier than normal…

His minions could deal with that.

[Wait for the OCD is up, up and away!]

Somehow, the prospect of performing outside was a little less intimidating than opening night had been, in the theatre.

Or perhaps it was the coffee that Warren was drinking in order to keep warm. He was on his third cup already, after all. More than enough in order to bolster his courage, get out there, and fly through his lines.

Not literally. Probably.

Rinoa wouldn't say it was the best day she'd ever had, but there was a play to throw herself into, and that was what she intended to do. She wasn't entirely her bubbly self as she got into her rags costume and make-up, but she was here. The play was what mattered.

Well, this was just peachy.

First she had a terrible rash from whatever it was Holmes put in her bandages, and now Kūkaku was freezing her ass off. Just fantastic.

No, that didn't mean she was going to bother covering up anymore. Then what would she complain about? And what would she use as an excuse for making the pyrotechnics extra hot tonight, hm?

Thankfully, the twins could provide a little extra body heat. NO, not those ones....

Christian was somber as he adjusted his costume and went over his lines one last time. In a way, it was good to have the distraction of not being himself for a while, but he knew more goodbyes were coming.

The show must go on.

Someone was backstage nibbling on something that looked suspiciously like a piece of gingerbread....

But at least Ariel wasn't late this time? Win some, lose some. She just couldn't help herself, because it was too, too funny. Besides, she had to go home for a week or so tomorrow, so she wouldn't even have to deal with any consequences for too long.

Alexander couldn't explain why, but all this gingerbread seemed oddly...noteworthy to him.

But, either way, he had a job to do, and the task would be a little different due to the relocation of the play. He certainly didn't mind helping with the move and trying to think of ways to keep everything safe from snow and the cold.

Elphaba was rather vexed by the change of venue, but didn't say or act any differently. She'd deal, but that didn't mean she liked last minute changes.

Squall spent some time making sure all the props on the prop table were accounted for and in their proper place, and then hung around in case anyone needed him to... whatever.

And he made a point of again wishing people luck and being polite. Cranky actors would be more likely to screw up.

Sara was covertly sampling little bits of gingerbread she'd pilfered off the side of the diner en route to the performance tonight as she scurried around in a fine tizzy of getting prepared.

. . . it had seemed like the sort of experience not to be missed out upon, after all.

Well, Jonothon appreciated the blanket, at least. He wasn't going to be making much use of the drinks at all, unfortunately.

Something about not having a mouth made that tricky.

//This isn't so bad, is it?//

This was, of course, directed at the small entourage that was there with him. Nobody thought that he was going to show up to this thing alone, did they? That would be all too much like being social.

Naturally, bringing people along for the show made this outing less social. It made sense to Jonothon.

Rosalind was... here. And mollified by the drinks. She was quite pleased to have coffee thank you very much.

... The blanket was nice too, though she'd be less than inclined to admit it.

Her gaze was not quite a scowl whenever she looked in Jono's direction, however.

The smirk when she glanced down at the plush wolf with a bow around it's neck, though, was definitely amused.

There was no way that Hinata had been going to miss this performance. Not with Karla and Warren in it together.

From Warren she had the idea that it was a deviation from the original story, but she was quite interested to see what happened as it played out.

George was here. George wasn't appreciative of, well, anything, because she was grouchy and well on her way to a decent sulk. Especially not Jono, who had dragged her along in the first place.

So she was going to sit here, wrapped in a blanket, hating everything and fully expecting to hate the play. She'd be almost disappointed if she didn't, at this rate.

Shunsui was too drunk to come see the last performance, and he was still pretty drunk for this one, but he was here! He didn't even mind the cold; he brought his own sake to help keep him warm.

And perhaps there'd be a beautiful woman in the audience who could help him with that, as well...

Emma did indeed approve. She wouldn't have come at all, if she hadn't wanted to support Karla, as outdoor theater in December was a bit too chilly for her taste.

Tonight, Warren was quite happy to get out there and be the best bumbling idiot lackey that he could possibly be!

... Again, the coffee possibly had something to do with this. But no matter the reason, he got out on that stage, ignored the chill in the air, and delivered the lines of the Hunter with style, pizazz, and a minimal amount of tripping over his own feet in pretty much any of his scenes.

And even that much was on purpose. He was going to call tonight a win!

Captain Jack strode (and only occasionally stumbled) around what was broadly defined as the stage, only once taking the chance to deliver his line from the lap of a member of the audience, who was no doubt thrilled to be brought so close to the action of a live performance.

...Jack also stole their hot chocolate.
