Book Haven, Monday

Claudia made a beeline for work after her "Science of Sexuality" class. It hadn't been totally bad? But it was kind of awkward and man, she'd rather not think about trying to figure out what Holmes and Watson's relationship was to each other. And, well, it was kind of hard not to.

So here she was, behind the counter, grabbing the nearest book on hand to distract her.

Scully had a free Monday, and was still organizing her online classes. Thus, bothering Claudia. And not, say, dragging Momoko into the Library to make sure she studied.

Claudia offered Scully a smile, then sighed. "Not yet. I know I'm close. Which, you know, just makes it more aggravating."

"Oh yes," Scully said in total agreement. She grimaced, remembering the dead-end of Special Collections. "Although it's better than being stalled, give it that. Happy New Year, by the way."

"We did," Scully said, looking amused and a little rueful. "In between Christmas and New Year's. I needed time to -- chill. It was actually a lot of fun. And involved way too much whipped cream on the waffles."

Scully snorted, and gave Claudia a half-grin and a headshake. "There were happy faces?" She paused. "And okay, Mulder couldn't resist some of the obvious jokes there."

It had almost felt like they were back to being partners again, for a little while.

Smirking back, Scully said, "Chemistry and Paranormal Studies tomorrow. Which might be fun to heckle, if the teacher isn't competent, or ready for this place. And Psionics and..." Wait for it. Sigh. "Home Economics on Wednesday." Oy.

"You? In home ec?" Claudia laughed softly. "They should sell tickets. You'll have to let me know if Paranormal Studies is heckle-worthy. I'm in that one, too."

"I'll try not to roll my eyes too hard in class, and confine myself to out-of-class commentary." Probably. "Paperwork errors-- I know how to cook. I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself. I can even, wait for it, sew a button on a jacket." She made a face. "Let's hope this class isn't too impossible to deal with." She grinned. "What else are you taking? We can hopefully team up for Paranormal a couple times."

"I can . . . pin buttons on jackets?" Yeah, Claudia was kind of useless on that front. "I think Mrs. Frederic set my schedule with a dartboard. I had Science of Sexuality today, with Mr. 'I'm so awesome' Holmes and . . . that guy who hangs out with him all the time, then Paranormal Studies tomorrow, Adventures with the Doctor on Thursday, and, drumroll please. . . . How to be a Proper Sea Dog."

Scully stared, then snickered. "Alexander's in that class. But I think I have to agree on the dartboard. Holmes taught sex class?" Frank disbelief there. "You're joking."

"His buddy?" Scully tried to remember if anyone had helped teach any of the Detection classes last semester. "Who's this? Another teacher? That's a relief to hear, really."

"That's good," Scully said, considering that. "Less awkward than the Hooking Up class that the Gunmen signed me up for." She smiled slightly. "I was thinking of joining a club or two this semester, if anything looks interesting. I was too much of a hermit, the last few. Maybe see if a Science-type thing is in the offing."
