The Docks; Wednesday Around Noon [ 01/05 ].
Turned out the Sergeant wasn't actually around yesterday, so Kūkaku didn't get the chance to talk to her about the duel planned at the docks today, but she, a big fan of throwing caution to the wind and watching it burst into little itty bits, wasn't going to worry about it. What was the worst that could happen? With all the crazy shit that went down at this place, two consenting adults on the docks having a duel would hardly cause a blip on the radars.
Right?
Either way, Kūkaku was there a little early to scope out the area and twirl her blade in her hand to get familiar with the weight of it again. It had been a long time since she'd had to actually use the thing for a regular fight, but she was looking forward to it.
The twins, of course, were there and ready to carry away the battered Hook and his trashed pride once Kūkaku was finished with him.
[[ expecting a duel partner, of course, but post is most certainly open for spectators before the fuzz shows up ]]

"Well then, good to see you properly prepared, then," he said.

She gave the sword one more twirl before settling into a ready stance, blade pointed toward him and stub of a right arm behind her as if for balance from the weight of her forefront. "Been a while since I had a good old swordfight," she admitted, especially since she did plan on sticking to the blade and not bringing out the bombs unless Hook was actually as good as he claimed. "Guess I'll have to settle for this, though."

He fully intended to 'tag' her with the hook at some point, just to prove what use it really was. He didn't fight clean, after all.
"Well then, Miss Cuckoo, it is a duel."
He paused, deliberately. "Wait, I mispronounced that, didn't I?"
He'd done that on purpose, too.

And, not about to waste her time with idle chatter, Kūkaku rushed forward with deft speed, and, once getting in the proximity of Hook, she jumped up, letting out a shout as she already had her blade ready to cleave down on his stupid skull.
A fencer, she was not.

Hook sidestepped that one, the shout being somewhat of a dead giveaway. "Well, it's a step up from crowing," he said, raising his sword in a position ready to parry.

She was too busy swinging her sword back around for a swipe at waist height.

He laughed again, and swung his blade around for a swipe at Kukaku's arm.

Hook chuckled to himself and thrust forward with his own sword. "He only invited women about to do his cleaning!"
no subject
Partially for the fight itself; but just as much for not being able to kick that nemesis's ass.

"Ah, I see that you're not interested in fighting cleanly, my good woman," he said, stalling for a teeny bit more recovery time.

And he'd been given just enough time to recover, so he whipped up his sword and thrust forward, aiming for Kukaku's side.
He had absolutely no intention of killing her. Not in his first week here, at least.

"You sure that ain't your own?" she wondered as she swept to the side, dangerously close to the edge of the dock, and tried to respond with another job straight at him.

He dodged the blade, But it did cut a nice slice into his coat.
"You're paying for that," he added, and punctuated it with a swing from his hook, aimed at her arm.
