The Docks; Wednesday Around Noon [ 01/05 ].

Turned out the Sergeant wasn't actually around yesterday, so Kūkaku didn't get the chance to talk to her about the duel planned at the docks today, but she, a big fan of throwing caution to the wind and watching it burst into little itty bits, wasn't going to worry about it. What was the worst that could happen? With all the crazy shit that went down at this place, two consenting adults on the docks having a duel would hardly cause a blip on the radars.

Right?

Either way, Kūkaku was there a little early to scope out the area and twirl her blade in her hand to get familiar with the weight of it again. It had been a long time since she'd had to actually use the thing for a regular fight, but she was looking forward to it.

The twins, of course, were there and ready to carry away the battered Hook and his trashed pride once Kūkaku was finished with him.

[[ expecting a duel partner, of course, but post is most certainly open for spectators before the fuzz shows up ]]

Hook arrived promptly on time, his sword and hook properly polished for the occasion. He laughed when he saw her twirling, not a rude laugh, but one of amusement nonetheless.

"Well then, good to see you properly prepared, then," he said.

Hook's age didn't mean he wasn't agile, and he was the second-best swordsman in all of Neverland. He tweaked the end of his curly mustache with his hand. "Why thank you, madame," he said. "It took quite the hard work to accomplish."

Hook drew his own sword and settled into his own stance.

He fully intended to 'tag' her with the hook at some point, just to prove what use it really was. He didn't fight clean, after all.

"Well then, Miss Cuckoo, it is a duel."

He paused, deliberately. "Wait, I mispronounced that, didn't I?"

He'd done that on purpose, too.

Hook's opponent's weren't often classical fencers, either. After all, the Pan could fly.

Hook sidestepped that one, the shout being somewhat of a dead giveaway. "Well, it's a step up from crowing," he said, raising his sword in a position ready to parry.

Hook had his parry ready, and deflected the blow with his sword. "I have to admit, this is the first sword fight in a long time where my opponent wasn't a man. I think distraction is on your side, today."

He laughed again, and swung his blade around for a swipe at Kukaku's arm.

"My nemesis, as it were," Hook said, sidestepping and bringing his hook up to deflect the blow, "had rather... misogynistic recruitment policies."

Hook chuckled to himself and thrust forward with his own sword. "He only invited women about to do his cleaning!"

That trick worked, and while Hook was able to disentangle the hook, the kick to the stomach landed. It knocked the proverbial wind out of his sails, but he stepped back quickly and scowled.

"Ah, I see that you're not interested in fighting cleanly, my good woman," he said, stalling for a teeny bit more recovery time.

"I'm sorry," he said. "I couldn't hear that over the deafening sound of your ignorance."

And he'd been given just enough time to recover, so he whipped up his sword and thrust forward, aiming for Kukaku's side.

He had absolutely no intention of killing her. Not in his first week here, at least.

"I, Miss Kūkaku," he said, very carefully pronouncing her name, "studied at Eaton."

He dodged the blade, But it did cut a nice slice into his coat.

"You're paying for that," he added, and punctuated it with a swing from his hook, aimed at her arm.
