The Boards -- CASTING -- Saturday

There was rather less to be done today in preparation for the auditions, truly, which would be why after making certain that everything was set up exactly the way he wanted, Genesis had flung himself down in a seat and was texting Angeal.

It gave him something to do while he waited to see who might show up. And it was always amusing to needle his old friend with taunts of a secret that he wasn't inclined to share just yet.

Casting for DOGS
Cast and crew needed! Free food and drink available!

He'd put the phone away when people began arriving, of course, but until then...

Well, why not?

"Hello again!" Jack bellowed as traipsed through the door.

Oh, Genesis, you lucky thing.

"Brilliant," he declared. "It's my birthday today!"

It wasn't, but telling someone that earlier in the week had scored him a free cupcake. He was going to milk it for a while.

"Indeed," Jack said, grinning and show off his gold teeth. He cleared his throat and then began:

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We pillage and plunder, we rifle and loot.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.
We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We extort and pilfer, we filch and sack.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.
Maraud and embezzle and even highjack.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We kindle and char and in flame and ignite.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.
We burn up the city, we're really a fright.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.

We're rascals and scoundrels, we're villians and knaves.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.
We're devils and black sheep, we're really bad eggs.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.

We're beggars and blighters and ne'er do-well cads,
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.
Aye, but we're loved by our mommies and dads,
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.
Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.

His voice was surprisingly good, for a pirate.

Elphaba entered, a little bit of trepidation in her heart.

"I... may I ask what exactly the play is about, before I audition?" she asked.

Believe it or not, even after his... stellar performance with the last production, Warren wasn't here looking for a role.

That said, he was looking for something to do. With all that was prone to going on around this place, he needed something to throw himself into, almost bodily. And the Boards were... inviting, in their own special way.

Looking a little thoughtful, he cast a glance around for Genesis.

"I'm already very interested," Elphaba admitted. "So if I were to get a part, I would be playing a dog?"

Elphaba made a little bit of a face, but nodded. "It won't require anything embarrassing, I hope?"

"Mr. Rhapsodos," Warren greeted, quirking that little smile for him. "How are you doing?"

Pleasantries first. And then he'd get into the meat and potatoes of the conversation.

... Which mostly boiled down to how there were no roles in the show for winged dogs, and spandex was something that he'd sworn never to put on, ever, because honestly... Mutants in tights? But he'd like to be put to use here regardless.

"Oh yeah? What sorts of things? More than just casting, I'm sure?"

Subtle like a brick, Third.

"That I wouldn't mind," Elphaba said. As far as she thought, how she was dressed didn't really matter, unless she'd be nearly naked.

"I don't have anything prepared for an audition, unfortunately," Elphaba said.

Warren ducked his head a little, smiling sheepishly at the floor.

"Not really," he admitted. "The musical is DOGS, not BIRDS. I don't think there's really a role for me."

Well, that depended on whether or not they did the scene with the parrot getting up and dancing on the table in the bar. But that was more a walk-on role anyhow, and in a scene that was completely optional, and could be cut according to casting restraints.
