The Park [evening after sunset]
Eric--after a wardrobe change that did not involve wearing cartoon cats on his chest, thank you very much, Jessica--was out wandering aimlessly.
He stopped on a bench and glanced up at one of the squirrels. He prefered people to Tru Blood, he was almost sure of that, but he had no memory of trying out wildlife...
As if the squirrel couldread narrative sense the giant Viking's thoughts, it took off in a mad dash of rustled leaves and bits of notebook paper.

She was intrigued enough to wander over and give the man a smile and a wave.
"Enjoying the weather, or are you on your way somewhere?" she asked.

"Wandering aimlessly" seemed less useful.

She stuck out a hand in greeting. "Cally Tyrol. Not exactly the resident welcoming committee, but something like it."

"Oh, bother," she muttered, frowning at her notebook as she emerged from behind the tree she had been hoping to use as cover. She narrowed her eyes and then lifted them, as if that would make her feel better, and then she sighed. "I suppose if I got a candle, but that would only let them know I was here...." She sighed heavily, clearly put out by this unforseen situation. "I suppose I shall just have to remember it all, and..."
There was more, but it was mostly disappearing into a fragmented mumble of digressions under her breath.

She then smile, though, straightening herself up again as she said, "Oh, hello. Lovely evening for a walk, isn't it?"

Said, naturally, with the utmost glee and relishing in the wonderful scandal of it all.

"What kind of wildlife?" he asked.

"Oh, well, the squirrels, obviously," she gushed easily, any reservations she had going right out the proverbial window. "But they're not as interesting once you find out that they're just as likely to follow you as much as you follow them. There are the teal deer, of course, they're absolutely beautiful and so graceful, and they're especially lovely when you see them in pairs and I've even caught four of them at once! They seem to be mostly singular creatures, from my observations, so it's quite a treat to see them in numbers. But the one I'm particularly hoping to see some is this elusive creature that the locals call a gremlin. Rumour has it that there might be a hallucinogen in their venom that makes a person act entirely out of their gourd! One bite, and that's all it takes to have you act like an utter loon, believing you're someone or something else. I've been hearing ever so much about them, but I've yet to see any sign of them. I'd think my leg was being pulled, but there is data to support that it might not just be myth..."

Well spotted, Eric.

As one does.
"Evening," he said, striking a match in the proper copper cliche to light his cigar.

"New in town?" said the oh, so social one.

Though if you asked him where he was from, he'd draw a total blank.
