Luke's Diner, Feb 8th.
Luke's was hopping once the girls from the sorority arrived.
"So they say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach," Quinn opened, once the girls were gathered in the kitchen at Luke's Diner and the regular staff had been shooed out of the way for a temporary break. "I think a short skirt works better, but sometimes you need to rely on more traditional methods. For that, there's always baking."
"And those of us who can't bake, can learn-" Supposedly. Emma was still skeptical on that idea, Mr. Rogers. "-or we can provide access to goods baked by other people."
"So today, we're learning how to win the way to the stomach of our beloveds through cooking, taught by the owner of this establishment, and then we'll have a bake-sale later this week."
“Hi, everybody!” Lacey had given the staff a lot of grief about making sure everything was in its proper place. And clean. They must have listened to her for once, because her smile didn’t have any nervousness to it, and the countertops, set up with a few food processors and electric stand mixers along with the other requisite paraphernalia, gleamed. (Yes, someone could have reminded her it wasn’t a cooking show, but it wouldn’t have done any good.) “I’d originally planned to give you guys a few different options but my cookbooks are having an identity crisis today, so I thought we’d go with something simple but fancy-looking: this is a little dessert I like to call berrymisu. Like tiramisu, only with berries instead of chocolate; get it?”
Yes, Lacey. At least some of them probably did.
“So like I said, it’s simple, but it looks fancy, and it’s a nice romantic type of dessert,” she went on, indicating an example of the finished product on the counter beside a stack of recipe printouts. “Not to mention that all the layering means you can impress that special someone with the work you put into it!”
Quinn smiled, clearly approving of the degree of organization on display. "We're going to try making our own berrymisus today," she said. "Or try out what you'd like to do for the bake sale Wednesday. Emma's in charge of that" -- largely because Quinn trusted herself more in the actual kitchen -- "but we'll need help setting up and running the sales."

Talk to Sookie
Re: Talk to Sookie
She'd likely be giving her finished product to Bobby, who probably couldn't care less how pretty it looked, but darn it, she wanted it to be nice.
Sorority Meeting!
Sorority Meeting: Arrive & Mingle
Re: Sorority Meeting: Arrive & Mingle
It was all Bod's fault, really...

Sorority Meeting: Cook!
Re: Sorority Meeting: Cook!
Emma refused to acknowledge that there may or may not be flecks of cream on her face or in her hair as she worked. She was a perfectionist, darn it.

Sorority Meeting: The Organizers

Re: Sorority Meeting: The Organizers
But then he realized there was going to be food involved. So when he wandered into the diner and saw that there were girls everywhere making food, well, it was sort of like Puck had wandered into one of his favorite dreams. If only everyone were topless. If only.
Anyway. He had a mission. So he sauntered over to Quinn, hands in his pockets, and asked, "So what's with all the baking? And more importantly, are you sharing?"
Re: Sorority Meeting: The Organizers
She gave him a half-smile. "I will share if you pay the dollar."
Or if he asked again.
Re: Sorority Meeting: The Organizers
So altruistic.

He knew matching was important to her. And this way he could find a matching wrist flower thing, too.
Re: Sorority Meeting: The Organizers
"I'll ... be ready for you."
And now she was feeling all giddy and dopey.
Re: Sorority Meeting: The Organizers
. . . if she weren't so occupied with her own dessert, she'd probably be offering help to everyone regardless of whether they needed it, so just be glad she was keeping herself busy.
Re: Sorority Meeting: The Organizers
The things this woman could do with bananas!
Not Dirty!Re: Sorority Meeting: The Organizers
If people were lucky, she'd give up on the idea.
Re: Sorority Meeting: The Organizers
"I understand the importance of cooking skills," she started, "but are we really going to engage in activities about how to woo people? Is this going to happen often?"
She didn't want to admit she wouldn't mind learning a bit about that sort of thing, but she liked putting on airs that it was beneath her.
Re: Sorority Meeting: The Organizers
"Mostly this is using the excuse of the holiday to teach baking, and what we sell on Thursday will act as seed-money for a larger fundraiser for one of the charities the sorority supports. But has anyone explained Valentine's Day to you yet?" Look, Elphaba looked like she was from out-of-town. Emma was checking for safety.
Re: Sorority Meeting: The Organizers
Re: Sorority Meeting: The Organizers
"Valentine's Day is traditionally a day on which lovers express their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards known as 'valentines,'" Emma explained. "Although it is considered acceptable to send flowers - so long as they are not roses - to platonic friends as well."
Re: Sorority Meeting: The Organizers
"Why does there need to be a special day for expressing your love? I mean, I haven't had much to observe, but it seems to me that it shouldn't take a special occasion to show your affection."
Re: Sorority Meeting: The Organizers
"It's silly if you think about it, but fun, and we can use it as a marketing tool for our bake sale."
